Class of '66 Old Fart Posted May 23, 2025 Author Posted May 23, 2025 EYBL has another event schedule this weekend in Kansas City but it is in NCAA designated Dead Period when no direct on or off-campus contact and no official or unofficial visits are permitted by coaching staffs. But fear not. Our very own @Demo has tentatively planned to attend and will provide us with copious and painstakingly detailed notes on each and every player holding an IU offer. Demo 1 Quote

Jackson, Taylor, Jordan Some notes from yesterday: Jordan Smith- Had 22 on crazy efficiency in a win. I still think there’s a ceiling there because he’s a 6’1” scoring guard without a great handle, but he’s gonna be a fantastic college player. Great athlete. Physically mature. Competes his a$$ off on both ends. His shot has really improved. Best thing about him is he never takes bad looks or forces things. Just a very clean player. Prince Alexander-Moody- Had 15 in a win. He’s legit 6’4”-6’5” and a very good athlete. Can really change direction. Was the best defender on the floor. Didn’t shoot it great but has such a clean stroke I can’t imagine that’s a problem. I kind f think he evolves into a full-time PG. He was constantly scanning the floor and directing. Showed some facilitation ability. Was also directing their huddles. Really looking forward to watching him today. Side note: Was told by the parent of another player that he doesn’t use Alexander. He calls himself Prince Moody. Fwiw Baba Oladotun- Playing up. Had 14 in a comeback win. Ridiculous physical talent. Height and length. Athleticism. Run and jump. Great looking stroke. Handle. The whole pkg. And for 3 quarters he did literally nothing. 0 points, couple of rebounds, no factor. Then went out in the 4th and completely took it over. All 14 of his points, probably 5 boards, couple of blocks, couple of steals. Made a couple of deep 3’s. Took a rebound end to end and at 6’10” broke out a spin dribble in traffic for a finish at the rim. Awesome. Kind of looks like a better Kwame Evans. Sammy Jackson- Had 3 in a loss. Prototype wing frame. Fluid athlete but not real explosive. Has a nice stroke but had an off shooting night. Nice handle and they used him as a point forward. Imagine he had 5 or 6 assists. Pretty aware defender. Didn’t really love him. Will watch him again today. Najai Hines- Had 10/7 in a win over Jackson’s team. That kid’s a man. Nice physical profile. He’s probably 6’10 and something like 240, maybe more. Thick all over. Good hands and quick feet. Runs well. Easy movement and change of direction. Average vertical explosion. Competed. Right handed but finished twice at the rim with his left. Stroke looks ok. Liked the kid a good bit. raorIU, Uspshoosier, mike vannice and 6 others 2 7 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted May 25, 2025 Author Posted May 25, 2025 Raby and Andershock did a video podcast last night after Fri. and Sat. games were over. They mentioned a number of IU targets they've talked to said they are hearing not just from the @$$'t coaches but from DDV himself. He keeps that kind of attitude towards recruiting and his golf handicap will skyrocket! (dws at our former coach) Pagoda, MemphisHoosier, Hoosierfanyuh and 1 other 1 1 2 Quote
mike vannice Posted May 25, 2025 Posted May 25, 2025 Hey Demo, What are you hearing on Najai Hines? Everything I read on line seems to indicate he is in the 2025 class. Played football in North Carolina and had multiple P5 offers but moved to Plainfield New Jersey for his senior to play basketball and wants to play basketball in college. Would be a fantastic late addition and help solve our frontcourt depth problem. Quote

If he was 6’5”-6’6”instead of 6’9’-6’10” he’d have NFL left tackle prospect written all over him. Between how well he moves for a kid that size, how good his hands are in traffic and how hard he competes, on 2 watchings became a pretty big fan. Kid’s motor ran hot every second he was on the floor. Would take him and Alexander-Moody without a thought and then see what you can get done with some of the higher rated kids. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted May 26, 2025 Author Posted May 26, 2025 Here's the stats for the players who've received offers from DDV from this past weekend's EYBL event in Kansas City. Most have 11 games of cumulative stats you can review. The next major events for the EYBL, 3SSB and UAA circuits won't take place until July. There will be lots of other AAU action in the interim but player stats from those events will be on a hit and miss basis. Even if that kid never scores a point he can impact games because he’s such a ridiculous athlete and a really committed defender. But that’ll never happen because he’s so explosive downhill that he can get to the rim on anyone. Big fan. Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted June 3, 2025 Author Posted June 3, 2025 Should have kept my keyboard silent. I jinxed Bryson Howard as he only had 4 points in yesterday's second game. But Jason Gardner Jr. is having a heckuva camp as he had 7 assists in yesterday's second game bringing his 3-game total to 22 and he's only been charged with 4 TOs. Considering his teammates are all brand new to him, those are pretty impressive numbers. Unfortunately, he's shooting like Tom Crean shot free throws. IYKYK. Camp wraps up later today. Quote

His best overall game of the event scoring 13 pts on 5-6 FG and added another 7 assists bringing his 4-game total to 29 and just 5 TOs. https://x.com/i/status/1929955473060704574 Demo 1 Quote
