Can he ever.

Feel bad for Newton (and us) that he has endured so many injuries as he is obviously a tough, very athletic dude.

Maybe he’s on his way back!  Give him a few games and maybe he could start being in the rotation

He might be.

It’s a very small sample size but he looks like a physical, impose his will, type of guy with an edge we need.

I've been saying this since before the season started. Have to play defense on the perimeter and you have to split the bigs and you can't play Mgbako and Goode together if you plan on defending the perimeter. I'm happy to see that. Either big with Goode, Tucker, Leal and Galloway or Rice would be what I'd go with next game.

Mgbako,,,I've bounced back and forth on. Is he lazy or dumber than a box of hair? It's probably both.

Mgbako is shooting 55/49/92 and is our best outside shooter.  He's a stretch 4 that has played mostly the 3, but tonight with Woodson playing one big most the time, he played mostly the 4.

I guess I don't get why you would single out a player who is our best scorer and shooter and think he should be benched.

SHSU's shooters just hit the floor after every outside shot.
Guess they were bound to get a call at some point.
Bako didn’t even touch the guy on that foul and there have been several other “phantom fouls” (on both sides).
Refs are just frustrating
Tuesday. Shrine night. Late reading the thread. I thought the same. Flop much?

Second half there were just tons of fouls called -- both ways.  Seemed like all you had to do was sell contact and they called it.  I think there was a total of 35 free throws in the second half.

As Coach WayneFleek has said for 2 months.

Give Leal All of Cupps minutes and half of Carlyle’s minutes. Gallo should start and play as much as he’s locked in.

Fun watching Leal play hard and give a damn.

Glad Goode was hot from 3 because his defense is atrocious.

Gave up way too many open 3s and layups. They missed a ton of shots. Not much new. Ultimately our flaw on defense will be a fatal flaw. Leal helps some. Gallo couldn’t keep his guy in front. Nor could Rice. Was hoping on 1 on 1 guard defense would be improved.

I beg of Tucker to mostly abandon his midrange game and get to the freaking rack.

The line was IU by 12.5.  Torvik had it IU by 14.5.  IU moved up spots on Pom with the win.

Doesn’t matter, because I still we should have won by more than 30.  Our turnovers had a lot to do with the final margin

Nice win but I feel we should have won by more than 30, IMO

I agree, it felt like we should have been up a larger margin earlier in the game.  We did get playing time for several reserves which is always fun to see.  My concern is that these types of games don't really prepare us for the upper echelon of the Big Ten.  We need to play better opponents in the non-conference portion of our schedule.

Yeah.  We generally get 11 non-conference games.  IMO at least 5-6 of those should be against similar competition level.  8-9 cupcakes doesn't do any good longer term.
