Lily gave plenty of evidence to be starter and it didn't happen. Many had every reason to believe she would be and everyone I know was extremely optimistic she would be a solid starting center. Just didn't happen. If you thought it would not work, you saw better than everyone and were in minority.

Makalusky is 20 spots ahead of Holmes and 10 ahead of Berger. She was brought in to be a shooter. We should be so lucky if she becomes Berger/Holmes.

Caffey is way more athletic then any recruit IU has ever had. Moren stressed she wanted bigger and more athletic and is about to go after that. Nothing is teetering and in words of Mike Woodson (except this time it is really true as Moren is an elite coach unlike him who only thought he was) "relax".

All will be fine and expect IU to be better than this year once roster comes together. Best players and ones with most potential (Yarden, Shay, Faith, Lenee) are back which is sign of healthy program. The portal will bring in better options than left who are more athletic and bigger for everyone who is patient.

No worries here. Adults are in charge and in a few weeks the roster will reflect that.

Based on hope. Not hard evidence.  Yes, to evidence of solid backup center and she struggled even with that. (At big ten level)….Agree with being in the minority.

Per ESPN Makalusky (95) vs Berger was (96).  It depends on which rating system is used.  However, Makalusky is great get for IU Ladies.

Yes, IU Ladies played against more physical, athletic teams (some even when not taller more thickness to their bodies).

Evidence for Moren's 11 year tenure:

10 straight 20 win seasons, six straight NCAA Tournament appearances, three second weekend appearances, an Elite 8, a Big Ten Title. Also been to a seventh NCAA Tourney in her career and 11 career wins in March Madness. Finally, a WNIT title.

Now lets look at the program prior to her tenure from 1971-2015:

Four NCAA appearances ever, one tournament win, one Big Ten title, six 20 win seasons.

Forgive me for having hope and trusting her when the numbers show she has earned benefit of doubt and turned worst program in Big Ten to one of best.

Not talking about T.Moren tenure.  I thought it was an excellent hire from the beginning the day she was hired and watched the program grow and actually expressed it throughout in another blog that closed down before moving to this one.

Talking only about Lilly playing center as a starter in big ten.

T. Moren does an excellent job of encouraging and trying to instill confidence in her players.

This is why I said she deserves a championship. I hope she can get over the recruiting hump.  More NIL?  She needs whatever she needs to stay competitive, then her coaching skills will take care of the rest.

For all the naive….that NIL is not an issue.

(plus there could be other things to consider like what kind of teammates is a player going to have to play with)

May find out in one case of IU Lady player not yet entered in the transfer portal (tomorrow and sounds like ongoing negotiations and 3 or 4 weeks is going to be a long time for IU Ladies program)…..this should not be even an issue/s.
Teeter-Totter.

It can’t be lost that Indiana University and Ladies Basketball program (Coach/Coaches) and other Support people….Have done a lot for the Lady basketball players.

I was saying that I don’t know how much NIL is a factor…how we stack up against the better teams etc… we know a lot about the boys NIL but I haven’t heard any numbers for the girls program.  It certainly is a major factor now days.

I think all agree that CTM is a great coach. She has revolutionized IU basketball, all for the better.

The mystery is why we have not recruited better. No one seems to know for sure. With IU's stature, it seems like we should be able to recruit on a par with South Carolina and anyone else. But, we are not.

One real wild card is the portal and NIL, which introduces all kinds of unknowns. Don't we need more transparency here? Like, for instance, some kind of "salary cap" like in the NFL, so all teams are operating with a common ceiling, and then public disclosure of offers and the "salaries" for all players on a team? You might say "this is a private matter", but not really--it's become a bidding war, and it is only fair to all involved, PLAYERS as well as fans, to make this known.

Sad to say that college athletics has come to this. It should be either about "student-athletes" or full-blown professional sports. At present, it is some kind of weird hybrid, and we are mostly left in the dark . . . which doesn't seem fair to anyone, least of all to the fans, and not even to the players.

Agree.  Life isn’t fair.  Take the word ‘fair’ out of the dictionary.

 This hardly if ever happens.
Fans/People:  “NCAA for division one (and law makers) you have made your choice.”

People/Fans also have a choice:  Turn around and walk away.  Don’t have anything to do with any of it for a couple years.

Sounds outrageous?  Well what is going on now is outrageous.

Maybe, IU could sell there athletics department to Mark Cuban and/or a group of investors.

I have a couple of theories.

Yes, it is very obvious NIL is a major factor nowadays.  Some programs (players and coaches) seem happy.  Others seem stressed.

I know it was reported that Yardon met with the staff this week and received a raised offer. I still would not be shocked to see her enter the portal

I'm wondering if this is a delayed post from earlier in week or if this account is even credible? Maybe there still is a bidding war going on. Who really knows at this point.

Yarden and how about Shay?

and $6,000,000 for the men’s program last year.  Then, look at the character of each program.

Sidenote:  does not involve new men’s basketball coach in any way.

If you expect this... why wouldn't she have already left? And what's the reasoning behind her leaving if it's not NIL?

May not be only reason.  Common sense might say she wants to go to a team where she can plug into for a higher percentage chance to go to final four or beyond.

She's obviously not been very happy here considering this is the 2nd year in a row that she has talked about leaving. I think the coaches are doing everything they can at this point to keep her. Maybe NIL CAN be the reason she stays if we pay her more than anyone else. But what is the price for someone's happiness? I'm not sure.

I've not seen her talk about it anywhere. Where did she do this? You didn't answer my question.
