2024/25 Roster Predictions

Recommended Posts

Happy to rebuild the entire thing.

I’d like Reneau the absolute most. I’d like Mgbako if he locks in mentally. I really want McNeely to stay the course.

I’d like Gallo but I’ll never trust him as a shooter. He does offer enough to still be a good piece on a good roster.

I’m fine if the rest of the roster is overturned.

Several here regularly posted early on that JHS wasn't ready and "clearly" wasn't on an NBA level.

I was in that camp. I didn’t think there was a good spot for him in the NBA given his athleticism and current skill set.  Seeing that he’s only played in 15 games this year averaging 6mpg and 1.8ppg, I’d say it wasn’t a bad assessment.

But if you go in the mid first round you should go, and Woody probably should get a little credit for that.

But it was basically a bad assessment. He was drafted in the first round, and this is just his rookie year - and look who he has to play for/with. He clearly has NBA talent and the skillset, whether he is able to grow that in the right team environment and fit remains to be seen

I'd be ok with a roster turnover centered around the right pieces (I would definitely include Bako, his soph upside...) but NOT if it was for more bigs and front-court emphasis. Has to be guard and wing-focused, with a plan.

No. It was the correct assessment. You simply have to look at real life as it played out exactly as predicted.

I said he should go if he gets drafted that high based on the money but that he wasn’t ready as a player. He certainly has the ability to get better skill-wise. I’m sure that’s what the Lakers are banking on. And if he doesn’t, at least he left at the right time and got his money. I made no predictions on where he’d be drafted.

No it was a bad assessment you just don’t want to admit it. He’s a rookie, he’s playing, he’ll get the opportunity to earn more minutes like all the other rookies. Skill is definitely there, do you even watch him play or do you just pull up his rookie stats to seek to prove you were right.

He got drafted after extensive scouting- NBA scouts and team brass actually know what they’re doing in evaluating players to pay them millions. Fit, who you’re playing with, coaching and management have a lot to do with whether a guy makes it long term. LA is crap management right now and it’s all about Bron and AD, but it’s up to JHS to continue to grow his game, like all the other rookies

I want guys to return that fit what needs to be done to make this program better and are all in.  Not going to speculate who they will be because I'm just a guy behind a keyboard with no intimate knowledge other than guesses.

What is for sure is that X and Walker are gone as they are out of eligibility and that Ware likely is as he enters the draft.  So at the minimum there are three openings next year.  Likely more just based on law of averages.

Lol…this is so ridiculous, I don’t even know what to say. You thought he’d have a good season as a rookie in the pros. I said he’d struggle.  He’s struggled mightily. you’ve convinced yourself that you were right…. Somehow.

Good luck with that.

Portal SG/Galloway/Newton

Mcneeley/Leal

Mgbako/Portal PF

Reneau/Queen

I still think there's a low chance woody isn't here next year so this is what I will be hoping for.

If Queen comes, he is being promised that he will start.

Which would be 2 bigs again. No way Reneau comes off the bench as a junior the way he's progressed. Hopefully he works on expanding his game to stretch the floor more regardless of Queen's decision.

I have read the same, really unfortunate. I am hoping the staff has realized what that means for style of play and lack of success (not getting hopes up). Best case scenario is Queen commits and plays a role like Reneau did his freshman year.

Then Malik would probably leave. Those two aren't playing together they are the same player.

Not only wouldn’t assume it, would be really surprised if that was true. That he would have that expectation doesn’t jibe with what we’ve seen of him for 3 full years. Barely played as a Soph, occasional starter as a Jr, situational starter as a Sr. Imagine he would expect starter-type mins, which without Ware he would certainly get. Establishing a rotation for Reneau/Queen/Mgbako/McNeeley is easy because the fits are pretty natural.
