If Rice continues to Ascend like I think he will, Rice may only be a Hoosier for 1 year.  With us not currently the leader for Brown Jr, some significant PT would be available at the guard position next to Kanaan, Cupps and maybe Netwon(Health pending).  Of course, CMW LOVES the portal so i could see us bringing in a veteran type of guard via the portal

Agree. I’m a big believer in adhering to your profiles. You wanted those qualities for a reason and exceptions breed exceptions. But Mallory’s dynamic.

No thanks.

Coaches have to recruit to the team they want to create. This kid is excellent but not for us.

This kid is a winner and gives his all and I'm not convinced Woody looks for anything but shiny baubles.

Yes he's a winner. Yes he gives his all and then some. In fact, that's underrating him. He's probably the single best severely undersized point guard recruit in the country.

But Woody values length and man to man defense with players that can switch, guard multiple positions, and screen on offense from any role,  and he's completely lacking. This kid is 5'8" in shoes -- to put that in perspective, Shay Ciezki is considered really undersized as the starting point on the women's team and she's 5'7".

So not for us in all likelihood. If we went after him that would be a sign that he is so compellingly good that Woody is willing to toss his model to try to add him.

He doesn't fit the mold of a Woodson guard. He's small and Woodson has never really targeted a guard shorter than 6'1.

I agree with what you said about Woodson but I'm with Stuhoo on this. We've had (mostly) big guards during Woodson's time and the perimeter D has been less than ideal. Imagine what it would look like with someone 5'9" (max). /shudder

Chihuahuas are little, but can be tenacious.
