IUWBB 2023 B1G Tournament - March 1-5, 2023

Recommended Posts

Iowa taking it to Maryland early. We are a better team than Iowa, but I would not want them as the 2 seed in our region. If I had to guess, 1 seeds are SC, IU, LSU, and Stanford if Maryland does lose this game.

All I'm saying.  Our team has loads of experience and talent... a coach shouldn't be needed to walk them through how to win a game up 24 in the 2nd half.

This will be a post where I counter my "coaches coaching" and take your position.  This team is a mature team and should have handled themselves better.  They were not doing that today.

Sadly this may be an issue for Holmes the rest of the way.  It’s equivalent to a Scott May or Kent Benson injury type thing for IU Ladies.  IU Ladies can still get to the sweet 16 but all bets are off getting to final 4.

Rest will definitely help but it could be a tough barrier to hurdle.  Holmes was hitting like 70% from the field and currently her stability to get off the floor reminds me of when she came back last year.  Just not the same.

And yes a healthy Holmes at near or at her best she would have been available and active for OSU press defense like she was during the season. IU Ladies are not able to replace that and OSU smelled blood in the water.

17 days can do a lot for an injury. Win that game, she'd get another week to rest. 1 game in 23 days or so.. if she sits the first round.

Unlike the men’s team the women’s team is far more regionalized to the point where we get home court advantage until the final four (by being real close in proximity). We discovered this last year I believe when we practically played in UConn’s backyard.

I expect they will keep her off of it for several days and then some light work at the end of next week.

Agree.  If Holmes gets a couple more blocks today, and able to defend better scores her season average, gets a couple more rebounds and available and active for OSU press, and able to come up with a couple more 5050 balls. IU Ladies win by 10 or more.  And today Holmes wasn’t able to do so.  That’s what Holmes was able to do almost all season.  That’s why she is elite all American type player.

Preach. That coupled with some uncharacteristic mistakes from the rest... and boom.

We only get the first two games at home. The regionals are on neutral sites

I meant that they tend to put the 3rd and 4th game in close proximity. Not in our own court.

Actually I think they only have 2 regional sites this year and don't think either is close to Indiana

Seattle is one and the other is Greenville, SC.
