NOTES Indiana resumes conference action on Thursday afternoon, posting a 2-0 mark in early league games before the holiday break. It defeated Illinois at home and Penn State on the road to join four other teams in starting Big Ten play off at 2-0. The Hoosiers have won six of the last seven meetings against Michigan State dating back to the 2017-18 season. The two teams met just once last season, in a 76-58 win for IU at home on Feb. 12. Senior forward Mackenzie Holmes continues to be one of the nation's best shooters, averaging 19.9 points per game while shooting 69.0 percent from the field. Freshman guard Yarden Garzon continues to shoot at a high clip from beyond the arc, going 51.8 percent in 12 games. She leads the team with 29 made triples. She has distributed 61 assists to just 13 turnovers and has maintained primary point guard responsibilities for the last six games. The Sharon, Tenn. native has dished out multiple assists in 11 games this season. Indiana went a perfect 10-0 against non-conference foes this year including a pair of wins over No. 11/4 Tennessee and No. 6/6 North Carolina. It marked the first unblemished non-conference season since 2013-14. UP NEXT IU will be back in action on Sunday when it hosts RV Nebraska at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. mamasa Posted December 29, 2022 Author Posted December 29, 2022 Cannot stand Suzy Merchant (she's only 2 years older than I am, but looks about 30 years older!), so I really hope we just smoke them ellen.walden 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Thanks Mamasa. Didn’t see you started a thread. You’re a good man regardless of what everyone thinks. :-D OliviaPope40 and mamasa 2 Quote
Todd41 Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Not a good start. Looks like we are still on break ellen.walden and mamasa 2 Quote
TheWatShot Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Looking like turnovers will be a problem once again today. 6 in the first quarter. Quote
TheWatShot Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Up to 8 turnovers and now we're down by 8. Quote
TheWatShot Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Midway through the second quarter we have 10 turnovers and 9 made field goals. Down 28-23. Quote
TheWatShot Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 35-33 MSU at the break. Probably fortunate to only be down 2 considering we have 12 turnovers and we're giving up a lot of second chance points. Quote
JerryYeagley23 Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Not our best half of basketball. They are pressing and it took us a quarter and a half to figure out how to break it. Turnovers are uncharacteristically high due a lot to the pressure. They play a dribble drive offense just trying to get in the lane and dish and we need to make an adjustment at halftime to help down earlier when they get into the lane. We miss Grace a lot in a game like this. Good experience for the girls come tourney time to play against this style team. The road in the big ten is always tough. Gotta close this one strong, that’s what a top 4 team would do. Quote
TheWatShot Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Tied the game at 35, then gave up an 11-4 run thanks to 3 more turnovers. Quote
TheWatShot Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Turnover #16 leads to an and-one and MSU now has its biggest lead of the day. Quote
maharkn Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Absolutely embarrassing play so far. Allowing Michigan State to get the rim every possession has got to stop. Have been physically outplayed and out hustled the entire gameSent from my Pixel 6a using Tapatalk ellen.walden 1 Quote
TheWatShot Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 We've been remarkably consistent with our turnovers today. 18 total, 6 in each quarter. Still 1:27 left for more miscues in this quarter, however. Quote
TheWatShot Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Cut it to 3 and then gave up a freaking 4 point play. Good grief. Quote
HoosierAloha Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Really poor decision making Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners ellen.walden 1 Quote
maharkn Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Indiana should have gone since in the second quarter and made Michigan State shot threes Sent from my Pixel 6a using Tapatalk Quote
Todd41 Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Well, it was a fun run so far. Time to regroup and get our head back on straight for Nebraska. ellen.walden 1 Quote
JerryYeagley23 Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Yep. Put that one in the film file and move on. Too many turnovers. The road is tough. Quote
colonel06 Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 I guess there were just too many bowl games today to carry this on network TV!:( Quote
