Berube has been sort of a magician at Tufts and Princeton. But, keep in mind that she made it to 2 championship games with Tufts in DIII and lost both of them.

She is now heading into the Big 10, which is, essentially, a buzzsaw. She and Shea Ralph (Vanderbilt) are testing whether Geno, long-term, will have created any kind of enduring coaching dynasty. Other Geno products have flopped big time in the coaching ranks.

Nothing is guaranteed but she reminds me of Shauna Green who was elite at lower level and has thrived in Big Ten. NW is essentially Princeton of Big Ten academically.

Just as I predicted Green would succeed at Illinois and Gearlds at Purdue and Coquese Washington at Rutgers would fail at time of hires in league, i have a very good feeling Berube will succeed at NW while Tanisha Wright at PSU and Gary Redus at Rutgers will fail.

Nothing is guaranteed, but the coach who build a mid-major into power (not inherited it like Archie Miller which often fails) at their level like Green or Berube always has best chance at success while sentimental alumni hires, failed p5 coaches, or someone with no head coaching experience at D1 level almost always fail.

Arek Angui looks like too much of a risk. Had miniscule numbers last year. I don't understand how some teams manage to scoop up great foreign players--Blanca Quinonez at UConn being most recent example. We end up with Kadlecova, Sandvik, & Ondineme.

If you are looking for change-making bigs in the portal, you probably need to be a Texas (Breya Cunningham) or Oklahoma (Beers), which is looking for the last piece to make it to the top. IU, at the moment, is looking to be rescued from mediocrity . . . and that's not a big sales pitch.

There is MOMENTUM in recruiting. IU lost it badly, and is trying to get it back.

IU Ladies are one big impact player and a good wing away.  However, they need to be very impactful.  Not bench warmers. Then, if bench warmers/practice players or team members are added ok.  Two have to be impact.

Lilly M.  4 for 4 from 3  and 14 points Vs San Diego State last night.  Good for her. Players look much better when competition range matches ability level range.

ND is not going to beat UCONN lol.
T. Moren in a hard place last year at this time stating Spreen is a glue player…maybe at a level that fits her ability…but a glue player for a top program would be former all star Shade.

Watching several Ladies collegebasketball players in March Madness Tournament that IU Ladies were involved in their recruiting.

Michigan poleaxes Tennessee to reach the men's basketball Final Four.

Less than three hours later, Michigan skates past Minnesota-Duluth to reach the hockey Frozen Four.

Just over 24 hours after that, Michigan plays Texas for a spot in the women's basketball Final Four.

Can they complete the winter sports trifecta? Good time to be a Wolverine.

And football very likely back to top 10 type status.

UVA went 22-12, upset Iowa at Iowa City in the NCAAs to reach the Sweet 16, and ... fired their coach.

And it was a week after the season ended.

Kinda weird ...

I wish they would do away with those handshake lines at the end of the game. When did they start that? It wasn't always that way.

Particularly after a tough loss, and questionable calls, it's better just to head to the lockerroom, instead of forcing people to fake good sportsmanship. Dawn Staley is not a "good sport" by any measure. And there was the incident when Greg Gard used the handshake to pull over Juwon Howard and say something critical and inflammatory--which set off a ruckus.

Just drop the handshake line.

In all these sports and games it would be nice to get rid of the drama fueled by the CC effect.  Even the incident between the Miami and IU player after the game.  It’s almost everywhere… just need more smoothness rather than everything has to be a dramatic big deal.

On the day the women's portal officially opened, Butler cans Austin Parkinson!

Dumb. He has done better than anyone there with zero resources. Either give the program more to work with or be grateful for what you have.

They are not getting anyone better.
