Against UCLA (& the Betts sisters), Zaja (Wisconsin) got 16 points and 4 rebounds. Against UCLA, Noyan got 1 point and 2 rebounds; Ondineme got 0 points and 1 rebound; Wiseman got 0 points and 1 rebound. Yeah, it would be great to get a super-athletic center like Okeke, but we seem to miss on them all the time. When we've gone into the European market (Sandvik, Ondineme, Kadlecova), it's been mainly a bust. Garzon? Quote

She could take her choice of Faith Wiseman or Jade Ondineme spot on the bench and play a little out of necessity and yes that might be all IU Ladies can get. Edessa Noyan showed improvement and had an excellent game vs Oregon (not UCLA) but started to improve the back half of season. Quote

Yeah. That's not good. The way IU has missed on the bigs--1/3 of the squads at South Carolina, LSU, USC, and Reagan Beers . . . don't see it getting better with the formula of wishing and hoping for top 10 recruits. Maybe need to be more discerning on recognizing and attracting sleepers and overachievers? Like Mack Holmes, for instance. Quote

And does IU Ladies have a chance? IU Ladies should have a chance because she needs playing time and IU Ladies need a big and there is no doubt the coaching would be there. Win Win. 15 seats might just be worth 1 of those seats…unless there’s a difference maker lurking….not sure how she holds up physically? And if it’s for sure 90% she is not going to play it’s a pass. TTT Posted Sunday at 11:39 PM Posted Sunday at 11:39 PM Maryland 66. NC. 74 Garzon 6 pts. 2 for 11 fgs 0 for 6 3pta. 2 for 4 fts 3 rbs. 1 asst. 2tos. 1 stl. 0 blks. 4 pfs. in 36 mins. I hope everyone is happy whoever sold her this horse$$@)&. She played much better under T. Moren even though Moren challenged her. And it cost IU Ladies a 20 win season. It cost Garzon ANY chance of WNBA…though she may play in another league. Quote

LamarCheeks Posted Tuesday at 12:54 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:54 AM The USC women are torching the USC women -- up by 30 at halftime. (I have friends and relatives who are South Carolina alumni -- they insist they're the "real" USC. LOL) Quote
Aaron Posted Tuesday at 02:28 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:28 PM I hope Iowa fans don't ‘lose hope’ over their program by getting upset at home in the second round as can happen in tourney like our fans supposedly did. Hawkeyes have the best fan base in the country and will continue to sell out no matter what in the sport. IU fans need to take note of what supporting a good but not elite team means. This year was unacceptable for IU as a whole but not a reason to run away from program. Especially, with elite class coming in. In all seriousness, I have UCLA winning it all and Michigan in Final Four in my bracket. Great yr for conference. NatHillIV 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted Wednesday at 09:57 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:57 PM Carla Berube has been named the new Northwestern WBB head coach; she's been the head coach at Princeton for the last seven seasons https://nusports.com/news/2026/3/25/womens-basketball-carla-berube-named-northwestern-head-womens-basketball-coach Quote
TTT Posted Wednesday at 11:32 PM Posted Wednesday at 11:32 PM For both basketball and football (not sure about other sports) but it’s not the sport anymore. The recent new sport is called is called TRANSFER PORTAL. Quote

This is how you hire a coach and take the one from elite mid-major who built a program. This will almost certainly succeed similar to Shauna Green at Illinois with zero risk. Quote

Arek Angui looks like too much of a risk. Had miniscule numbers last year. I don't understand how some teams manage to scoop up great foreign players--Blanca Quinonez at UConn being most recent example. We end up with Kadlecova, Sandvik, & Ondineme. If you are looking for change-making bigs in the portal, you probably need to be a Texas (Breya Cunningham) or Oklahoma (Beers), which is looking for the last piece to make it to the top. IU, at the moment, is looking to be rescued from mediocrity . . . and that's not a big sales pitch. There is MOMENTUM in recruiting. IU lost it badly, and is trying to get it back. Quote

Berube has been sort of a magician at Tufts and Princeton. But, keep in mind that she made it to 2 championship games with Tufts in DIII and lost both of them. She is now heading into the Big 10, which is, essentially, a buzzsaw. She and Shea Ralph (Vanderbilt) are testing whether Geno, long-term, will have created any kind of enduring coaching dynasty. Other Geno products have flopped big time in the coaching ranks. Quote
