He can certainly light up the scoreboard but there must be some clear deficiencies in other aspects of his game that haven't generated high level interest and he remains a 3-star. Can our resident @Demo offer any insight? Quote

Can our resident @Demo offer any insight? Not that much. Visited for HH a couple of years ago so I watched a couple games when he was a Soph at Tindley. Then he went to Legacy Early College, Coen Carr’s school, last year and got to see him play a game at a showcase event. Lefty. Good athlete. Has 1st step explosiveness. Very offensively oriented. Not sure I’d call him a PG. Remember thinking he looked like a kid who would probably end up at a MM but was toolsy enough to have a chance to portal up in a year or 2. But if he’s dropping 50 bombs on people I may have been low. Class of '66 Old Fart and Stuhoo 1 1 Quote

Demo Posted yesterday at 01:52 AM Posted yesterday at 01:52 AM Probably meaningless but since DDV has said they’re still recruiting ‘26 kids I thought I’d throw it in here. My favorite ‘26 that I saw in person this year. Very good athlete. Smooth as silk. Wired scorer but plays under control. Could be the best pure shooter in the class, Has a little bit of secondary facilitator to him, though he’s definitely score 1st. Gave Jason Crowe, top 5 ‘26, all he wanted in a showcase event near me. Big fan. If he’s legitimately open, and I sort of doubt that but who knows, he’s worth going all in on. Kid’s gonna play in the League. Class of '66 Old Fart, Home Jersey and IUHoosier5 3 Quote

Watching this Michigan MSU game, we need athletes without sacrificing skill to compete at the top. Quote

Michigan absolutely put on a portal masterclass with Yaxel as the centerpiece. There will be about 10-15 teams with more money and clout ahead of us. We aren’t likely beating them for same recruits. Job will be tough. Scout will be ultimately important. Finding 3 or so stars seems like an impossible task. Maybe the foreign route will help us. Quote

But realistically we will end up with another 35th ranked team out of the gates. Trying to strike lightning in a bottle. None of these guys are athletic. Quote

I feel like recruits in this range are the sweet spot since they’ll hopefully stay longer and you may end getting a discount the later years. We need talent. Trey mckenney for dusty was similarly ranked last year and is a key contributor on a team way better than us. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

It’s what Woodson as trying to do but the vets were mostly bad. And the system. Maleek Thomas for Arkansas. And plenty of others. Quote

You follow this a little closer than I but I appreciate your perspective. I tend to think Dolson either cuts bait (not likely unless by him sitting so close he realizes DD is not the guy) or realizes he needs to right this ship quickly. I don’t discard the GM suggesting it could take time to balance the roster but to do that at the expense of wins is not something I think Dolson is going to accept. So what do you do if you are Dolson? Dolson’s superpower has been fundraising and I see this as the only viable path here. We cannot go into next year with another 35th ranked team. I think he has to convince some donors to stay the course and/or increase our NIL such that for at least 1 year we are top 5. Quote

I think increased funds and the ability to overpay is the only immediate way. I feel like we need some enthusiasm pumped into the program but that isn’t the DDV way. Building a roster that turns heads would be nice but I really see that as an immense challenge. Lots of good/better coaches are bringing back more. We feel so behind the 8 ball. Gotta hope the Carr move pays some dividends. Reality is another fringe year and hope the freshman class hits better than expected and a build can start. I don’t know. Land the right 3 or 4 guys out of the portal and everything changes but I’m not optimistic we will get it done. If we are doing the Orme, mid majors type build it’ll be a prove it year. Quote
