I spoke with a marketing rep from 105.1 today, talking about WBB. I told her that I really enjoyed Austin Render on the mic, that he'd had big shoes to fill after Greg Murray left. She seemed genuinely grateful for the feedback and said she'd let Austin know. I directed her to btownbanners and told her we have an active WBB board :)

Winner all but clinches home games in NCAA Tournament.

Terps are like IU in that they have five balanced players who can all score 20 on a given night, but no superstars. Also, like IU they play only about a seven-person rotation.

Huge game!

Seems like Holmes is starting to get back to full game speed.

We need that to be the case a whole lot.

From the IDS article on this game:

Moren said the Hoosiers were able to take Tuesday off before beginning preparation for Friday’s game, and Holmes was able to have her first real practice since returning to play, which gave hope to Holmes and the rest of the team.

“For the first time in eight weeks, Mack was able to actually get up and down the floor,” Moren said. “I think that we’ve seen her, in each game, look a little more comfortable. But unfortunately it’s been having to do that inside of real life games.”

Holmes is still not up to 100 percent, and hasn’t had time outside of highly competitive games to get back in her groove.

“Mack is about 60 percent right now. Mack is not even close to being 100 percent,” Moren said. “However, Mack continues to look like herself more each game and that gives us great hope.”

Moren said she anticipates Holmes matching up with Maryland’s leading scorer, sophomore forward Angel Reese. Reese averages 17.6 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. In Indiana’s win over Maryland, Reese scored 22 points and 12 rebounds for her eighth double-double season. Reese now has 15 double-doubles.

I think Coach was being a bit coy in quoting Mack being at 60% leading into this game.  Maybe closer to 80% as a guess.

This team has to show they can beat good teams which they have not done since Mac's injury.

Their is no question in my mind they will win big Thursday of Big Ten Tourney and First Round of NCAA Tournament as they have done against bad teams all year. The question is can they beat good teams Fri-Sun of Big Ten Tourney and Round of 32 and on of NCAA Tourney.

To win next week on Friday IU needs NCH to be much better. Everyone else was decent or good tonight and Mac looked stronger yet again. If the other four can repeat that performance and NCH is even a little better team has much better chance to win.

IU will face on Friday:

1. If Mich wins its Iowa regardless

2. If Iowa wins and OSU losses they face OSU

3. If Iowa wins and OSU wins they face Maryland
