It very well could be better not to have Stewart and Kopp on the floor at the same time. However, it should be noted that ball movement was poor against Michigan for the entire game, even when both of them were on the bench.

There are no better options for Kopp and Stewart on offense unfortunately. Maybe Bates down the road.

No, but Stewart and Kopp were a combined 4-7 from three yesterday. Phinisee, Galloway and Johnson a combined 0-8 from three.

I suspect there's a certain amount of adjustment that Woody is going through still.  Not from an X's and O's standpoint, but understanding what to expect from 19-22 year old kids.  Unlike the young players he coached in the NBA, these kids aren't professional level talents.  He's learning just how much can be coached into a kid versus how much is raw talent.  Establishing his culture and system is as much about recruiting as it is coaching.  IMO, he's done quite well instilling a focus on defense and trying to get them to play a pro style offense, but every player on this roster has a "achilles heel" part of their game.

We as fans sometimes have unrealistic hope that after a great win the players will have turned a corner when it's the same players with the same faults.  Finding a way to play to each player's strengths is the challenge.

I would be remiss if I failed to beat my deceased equine on the need for better, more consistent shooters (lol).

I'm thinking at least 3, possibly 4 years. Next year, his second, CMW will have a young team with a lot of young guards. Hood-Schifino will be an absolute baller but will be a freshman without experience at the college level, we can't expect too much. Gunn isn't as highly rated but he'll be ready as an upperclassman, possibly All-Big 1.o good. We shouldn't expect anything until his junior year. Bates will be a baller but only a sophomore. He has a lot of life changing events happening where basketball could be lower on his priority list. Lander will still be pretty young and only a sophomore too, we also don't know what is going on health wise. It could take him awhile to recover from his injury and be back ready to play. Galloway and Leal will only be sophomores too. While guards win the NCAA, ours will be young and need time to develop into college ready players. I'm not sure if X, Phin, or P Stew will return to use their final year of eligibility.

Looking forward to the day when Woody has players on his roster that don't have an achilles heel part of their game!

Agreed, that's a huge adjustment even for a coach of Woody's caliber to have to figure out how much has to be coached into a kid versus how much is raw talent. Just looking at the recruiting rankings, (not the end all but a good indication) it's easy to see that the raw talent wasn't there with a lot of these players. We've faced many teams this season with a lot better talent that we just couldn't match up against. When Woody gets his players to Bloomington we can start to expect to finish towards the upper-middle to top of the Big 1.o rankings!

It’s getting to the point of comical in here. Guys complained about the lack of shooting with Archie ball and now half way through Woodys first season they want to bench the two guys that every scouting report says don’t leave. The best part is replacing Kopp and Stewart with Archie hold overs that can’t shoot!

We still have a lot of players on here that were holdovers from the last regime. It'll take awhile to get them replaced and get a new system in place. They tried yesterday just meatchicken had more talent and nothing was working.

He might still be hurt though. Those two games were after he fell hard against Nebrasketball.

I certainly hope not, but it takes more than a year in many cases. Old habits die hard.

When the announcers are willing to say on air your getting out worked there’s definitely an green beans issue.

I couldn't listen to the game. I thought meatchicken was just running really good offense, the ball bouncing in their favor, and playing really good defense.
