Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Fresh off giving Maryland its first B1G loss, #14/11 Ohio State (9-1, 5-1) visits SSAH to face our #16/15 Hoosiers (7-3, 5-1). The Hoosiers come in at No. 9 in the current NET rankings as the highest rated Big Ten team. A win on Thursday would push the Indiana women's basketball program to its 800th program win. In its 47 seasons, IU has amassed a 799-647 record. Sophomore forward Mackenzie Holmes leads the way in scoring for IU this season with 17.9 points per game. IU is 9-3 and 7-1 not 7-3 and 5-1. IU Wins Thursday they take the Big Ten lead. Both games are at home and this is a chance to dispose of two teams toward the top of the conference this week and open up a lead on everyone not named Maryland which they already started to do. OSU, Michigan and MSU are the other teams closest to them and they have two of the three this week and the third in Michigan is shut down for COVID. Reality is if IU wants a chance to beat Maryland for title they need to lose at most once or maybe win out. In terrific position for second if they take care of business as they play every team around them still besides Maryland so with wins can keep those other teams behind in standings as they are now. They make mistakes in the notes a lot there but they are definitely 9-3 and 7-1 not what's in the notes:). It probably got copied from two games ago by mistake. Quote

Aaron Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 First place on line and like Maryland, OSU has been our kryptonite but we nearly beat them last two games despite a long losing streak. As I said I have come to the conclusion winning conference is unlikely but finishing ahead of Mich and OSU is a must. IU has 4 easy games down stretch (PU, Ill, PSU and Wisconsin), two should win tougher home games (MSU, Iowa) and four pure tossups (@iowa, OSU home and away, Mich). To me you need to win the 6 I said in first two groups and at worse split the tossups for a 15-3 record. Anything less is a disappointment. As an aside Rutgers has been out over a month with COVID. At this point with them being a pretty bad team, Big Ten needs to tell them they have one more week to get it under control or they cannot play again this year and expose other teams. No excuse to have a COVID stoppage of 5 weeks unless you have not been following proper COVID protocol with quarantine and contact tracing in which case they cannot subject other teams to it. JerryYeagley23 Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 Ladies and gents, how is everyone? It’s been a while, but figured it was high time I get myself back involved with y’all. Girls look ready for this one tonight. Definitely a statement game opportunity. You’ve got an OSU team with a spotlight on it after beating undefeated Michigan and always dominant Maryland. Would resonate a bit louder than usual to get a win against the Buckeyes tonight. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 29, 2021 Author Posted January 29, 2021 Fast 11-0 start for us followed by an 11-1 run by O$U and after 1 quarter we lead 20 - 15. Berger with 8 pts. in the quarter. HoosierAloha 1 Quote

JerryYeagley23 Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 A few straight possessions of turnovers let them eat away at our early lead, but the defense is playing well. Two thoughts: I’ve said it before, but Patberg gets due respect as our vocal leader of this team - but as Berger goes, so go the Lady Hoosiers. She’s the difference in us being good and great. Thought two: Cardano-Hillary has just not been what I thought she would be coming in. Just not an impact player at this level. Quote

JerryYeagley23 Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 That was a bad turnover by Gulbe. Grabbed the board, you’re on a 6-0 run and up 7, but you try to outlet pass quick when OSU is pressing high up the court instead of hurrying back on defense after misses. If she just holds the ball and gets it to a guard you’ve got possession trying to go up 9. Instead they drill a three and it’s a 4 point game. Gotta be smart. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 29, 2021 Author Posted January 29, 2021 Halftime and we have a 39-38 lead courtesy of a bucket at the buzzer by Holmes. Points: Berger 13; Patberg 9; Holmes 9 Reb: Holmes 6; Patberg 6; Gulbe 5; Berger 4 Shooting: IU 43% O$U 36% mamasa and HoosierAloha 2 Quote
JerryYeagley23 Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 When is the Aussie eligible? Price maybe? I thought she was potentially going to be eligible for the Spring or did I read that wrong? Quote

TheWatShot Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 I always like it when we don't get to see our team scoring because the BTN is busy showing multiple replays of a blocked shot out of bounds by the other team. Quote
