Oh I thought you were saying you were 98 percent sure they would. If they get to 19 wins I think they make it also. Just not sure they get those wins right now.

If they can’t win 4 home games out of the games left then they probably didn’t deserve to make it anyway

Some nuggets as we enter the year 4 of the Bracket Preview Show: Of the 12 teams that were 1 seeds for the 2017-19 shows, 9 remained a 1 seed in the real bracket. The other 3 teams were 2 seeds. All 12 2 seeds stayed in the top 16, as did 9 of 12 3 seeds and 6 of the 12 4 seeds.

In 2017, 15 of the top 16 teams revealed in February remained there in March. In '18, 13 of the 16 teams stayed the same. Last year, it dropped to 11, though 3 of the 5 teams that dropped out were 4 seeds and two were 3 seeds. The top 8 teams remained on the top two lines.

Where things stand on Super Bowl Sunday.

A few thoughts first. Last years team was unable to stop the bleeding of a losing streak by winning home games against middle of the pack B1G teams. When IU was 1-2 in the B1G this year I said IU would have to find a way to win 9 conference regular season games and unlike like last year win their home games against other teams fighting for a bid.

These will be NET numbers

IU is currently on a 3 game losing streak with a heartbreaking home loss to 11, and road losses to 20, 22

While these losses are not bad I think it is safe to say that IU fans would feel a lot better about their team if in these losses IU played better. If say IU played as hard as Texas Tech has in their losses maybe the losses wouldn’t sting as much. Maybe that’s true but I’m guessing Tech fans are just as worried as IU fans when it comes to making the tournament and up until this point they are probably in worse shape then IU. I guess my point is even if you want your team to look better in losses they ultimately are still losses.

Every new season is unique in its own way and this year is no different. In years past losing 3 in a row would be cause for panic but this year it seems to be happening in every conference. I’m not justifying it just pointing it out

Teams have to take advantage of home games to stop the bleeding. Can this years IU team write their own story and do this or will they fall further down and let last years losing infect this team.

Teams with 3 or more game losing streaks in the Net top 50

Butler (won next game at home)
Ohio St(won next game at home)
Stanford(won next game at home)
Penn St(won next game at home)
Texas Tech (won next game neutral)
Michigan(won next game at Neb)
Florida(won next game at Vandy)
Miss St(won next game at home)
Minny(won next game at home)
Xavier(won next game at home)
And now IU has a 3 game losing streak (? TBD)

IU
Net-52
Q1-(3-6)
Q2-2-1)
Q3-(4-0)
Q4-(5-0)

Sos-39
Non con sos-47
Ave net loss-22
Overall record

Upcoming game
Purdue-37
Iowa-24
@Mich-31
@Minny-41
Penn St-23
@Purdue-37
@Illinois-29
Minny-41
Wisky-32

Every game is with a team with a higher net moving forward. IU’s season and tournament hopes comes down to can IU find a way to win 4 games from that group. If they can they will be in the tourney and if they cannot then they will have work to do in B1G tourney.

Reminder this is a thread to discuss their resume this isn’t the thread to discuss whether or not IU should or should not be satisfied with making the tourney. Plenty of threads for that Hoosier fans.

Who does everyone got in the big game today.......

I got Iowa beating Illinois

Enjoy the super bowl folks. I got Kansas City

Thank you for the very detailed breakdown. I've highlighted in bold, italic red, what is by far the most impressive stat in this post. :-)

Quick thought on the resume. Notre Dame is 10 spots from being a quad 1 win. Very tough stretch on the road ahead for them but if they end up closing strong, there’s a chance that becomes another Q1 win. Though we still need to take care of our own business and if we don’t do that tomorrow, my confidence that we’ll get 4 more will be shot.

Where things stand today with 8 more B1G games to go before B1G tournament

Not a lot of good going on with IU’s team sheet since the last time I updated. IU had 4 chances to improve their resume and missed out on all 4. They had to take advantage of their home game opportunities against top 30 NET teams and they failed to do so.

Welcome to the bubble IU. If I did arrows by each team IU would definitely have a big red arrow pointing down right now. Luckily for them they have opportunities ahead of them where they will have a chance to get up off the mat and right the ship or they can stay on the mat and call it a season and fall completely off the radar.

Before the Purdue game I had IU as a 9 seed. After losing a home game to a bubble team I have moved them to the 10 line.

After the Maryland game I said the eye test showed me they were a tournament team solidly in the field. What a difference a couple weeks make because right now the eye test tells me the on court results are a non tournament team.

For IU’s sake good thing committee takes into account total body of work for the whole year because despite the bad the Hoosiers do have some good things on their team sheet.

NET

61(down 9 spots)

Q1-(3-7) 3 top 16 wins

Q2-(2-1) (Notre Dame-56)

Q-3-4(10-0)

Sos- 47.

Non con sos-80

Last I check IU is only 1 of 7 teams to have all their losses to NET top 40 teams

Average NET loss is 22

All this means 0 if the Hoosiers cannot find a way to win some more games.

Most teams on the bubble play their way out of the tournament each year. Will the Hoosiers be one of these teams again or will they turn it around? Not sure but they better start playing better then they have the last 3 games.
