Missed this the day it was announced, but IU is bringing on Jacksonville transfer Jacob Southern.  Started 55 of 56 games in 2019, including 39 at catcher.  Led Jacksonville in 42 RBIs and 15 doubles.

Big year in summer league too. 31 games .330avg .450obp 8 HRs 31 RBIs

Four senior baseball players are coming back to take advantage of the extra year of eligibility created by COVID-19:  Grant Macciocchi, Jeremy Houston, Braden Scott, and Collin Hopkins.  A decision from Jordan Fucci is expected later in the summer.

Others include Cal Krueger (leaving), Grant Sloan, and maybe Manous because he's a RS JR.

Getting Manous and Fucci would be huge.

Whered you see this?

A College World Series in mid-July. An NCAA tournament beginning in early July. A college baseball season beginning the third weekend of March.  Those are all things that will happen beginning with the 2022 season if a set of recommendations assembled by a five-coach panel of Power Five coaches gets approval from other Division I coaches and passes at the highest levels of the NCAA in the coming months.  Full story at link below

RHP Joe Wilkinson has transfered to Indian River State College and Catcher Brant Voth has transfered to John A Logan College.

I guess Voth STRUGGLED.

And with Jacob Southern transferring in probably saw the writing on the wall.

He actually said he was transferring well before Southern committed. But yes, he did. Hopkins was solid.

The @NCAA Division I Committee for Legislative Relief has given D1 Baseball relief.  Includes (for the 2020-21 academic year):

* 35-man roster cap lifted. No limitation.

* Annual counter has increased from 27 to 32

* The 25% scholarship minimum eliminated for a year.

Does that mean you could give every player a scholarship this year?  Or title IX still strict that?

No Hoosiers taken in abbreviated draft, so IU should return most if not of all of roster from last year with seniors given additional eligibility this year. Other Big Ten teams lost a bunch, so its possible IU will go in as Big Ten favorites if we don't lose anyone another way (unlikely).

If Covid does not wreck college athletics next year, IU is on pace for its best overall year since early 90's when all 24 sports are put together. Lets hope for best in this regard.

Surprised neither Dunham or Richardson taken. Another couple rounds, both probably gone off the board. IU will be loaded with a large roster. Not sure how many of the seniors will come back for the extra year. A solid freshman class coming but would assume some guys that might ordinarily have a chance to play as freshman could redshirt due to roster numbers.
