Bob Knight's players were the reason Davis got hired, I don't think that speaks to the caliber of coach the program is capable of hiring as there wasn't a real coaching search.  Samsung, I have no idea what the administration was drinking when they did that.  Then with the disaster Samsung left I can see why other coaches wouldn't be interested, different times now they don't have to clean up that mess.

Being a blue blood is not accepting mediocrity for 30 years. 

I have never seen a NC for IU and I'm about to have a daughter. We are literally a generation away from a NC. You aren't a blue blood if the older generation can't tell the younger generation what being relevant and winning an NC is like. 

Your definition thankfully not mine. If it makes u feel better to not call IU a blue blood then that's your right.

I don't think it's a club you get to stay in just because you were in it before. When we last won an NC we were what second in titles?  

4 schools have won 3-5 titles since we last won one

Sometimes being delusional is comforting. It's why people continued to have delusions about Crean being a good coach after years of proof.

Excellent post and here's where I will add that Crean has done an incredible job stabilizing be program. Crean is not the guy to lead them to the next level and that's okay but he did one hell of a job getting the program ready for the next guy. There should be a lot of interest in the job if and when it comes open and Crean deserves a lot of credit for that.

Yes and that's why I mentioned those four programs (minus Louisville) are blue bloods that are good year in and year out because of coaching stability. If IU hires the right coach, they will be great once again
