mike vannice Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 with Lenee Beuamont and Jules La Mendola on board I think that only leaves two roster spots open. Quote

We now have 4 net openings. Here is a summary on getting to the total. We have 15 to give out in total. We had 13 on the roster at the end of the year. We graduate 2 and we had 2 enter portal. We have given out 2 to the incoming Freshman. CSP 1 Quote

Although I am just joining the conversation now. As long as Holmes is healthy this team will be similar to last year competing for Big Ten Title with Iowa and OSU. What happens in tourney is crapshoot but they are absolutely a championship contender. I am not against adding someone but the team in its current form is easily top 5-10 nationally all year just as it was with Berger out in December and now you have time to prepare for her not being there. Good point/s. I still think IU gets something out of transfer portal. Todd41 1 Quote

We do need to fill spots from the transfer portal as running a roster of 11 is not enough. Even as an optimist, we will have games missed for minor injuries and sickness. These are inevitable over a season. I can see us getting two or three out of the portal. I am trusting in CTM and staff to get the right ones. Quote

"we need more". Inargueable. But... look at Holmes as FR- 19mpg 11p 5r, Berger FR 20mpg 6p, CMM 7mpg 1p... then look at what they were this past season. Grace Berger+McKenzie Holmes were 2 of the 20 best players in the whole country... and guess what, Garzon as a FR was better to significantly better than both of them as FR... I believe CMMs game goes to another level next year.. Meister, Henna take steps, LB gets even healthier with her length... I think alllll of those incremental improvements eventually turn into large scale team improvements that trump adding in a transfer that we don't necessarily always know how they will fit/risk losing any of our young girls. That, imo, is how we will "add more". In house. Quote

TTT Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Looking for IU Ladies to add another like 5 star level type along with a capable big girl. Development really helps but high level talent is really great to help that process and to be another weapon with current performing at 5 star level players. I know IU Ladies are a lot better at it but IU Men’s basketball and football have been developing players for years. Quote

CMM, Holmes, Berger... big, big improvements in their games during their off seasons here. Even Gulbe, and others, too. Oops! Forgot about Yarden lol Agree 100% on the player development. CSP 1 Quote
TTT Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 Players development and improvement became really evident early with T. Moren and staff with T. Buss and A. Cahill. Quote
ray Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 I wonder how tight Sydney Parrish is with Sedona Prince. They were 2/5 of Oregon’s Fab Five in 2020. I know Moren has two very capable interior players, and I have no idea what level of interest Prince would have with IU, but she’s certainly a rare talent. And IU needs depth in the interior. Could she coexist with Holmes, and does she have those special traits Moren apparently seeks in her players? Paopao is also leaving Oregon. She’s a high volume/high percentage shooter from distance (42 and an half percent on almost 200 attempts this season), and she’s considered one of the best point guards in the country. Again, not sure what interest there would be on either end, and I doubt Indiana will be worried about guard depth. Just throwing it out there, as her and Prince mean the complete departure of Oregon’s talented 2020 recruits I know the incoming and current guards have their backcourt stuffed full, despite the departure of Berger. Where they need more depth is in the front court. Holmes and Meister will be a phenomenal front court duo without any help (if significant injuries don’t occur), but it wouldn’t hurt to add another forward for depth. I wonder what sort of connection Parrish might have with Prince. She will almost certainly be playing in the WNBA after next season, and her declaration to enter the portal is too new for her name to come up in any rankings, but I can only imagine she’ll be among the most sought after portal players. TTT Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 1 high level big needed and 1 high level excellent player Berger type plug in player mid range with 3 point ability….who doesn’t need elite high level players??? When playing they add to level of play and or there is 0 drop off in play. note: Freshman coming in will need a year. Chloe may need a little rest and playing support some to keep her at high level fresh (along with the others) Currently, L.M. is really good coming off bench. Still developing into higher level. Currently, Bargesser is good coming off bench. Still developing into higher level. Same with Sadvik. Quote
