Iu is not losing this game. MSU young and inexperienced. I could see us at 6-3 in a week. 12 and 6 still very possible imo.

Crean was encouraging Newkirk to shoot the three.  Coach didn't notice how bad the three missed three's were by Newkirk.

He sees plays (angles, cuts, kick outs) that nobody else sees and he can actually make the play, it's not close. He'll make mistakes because of experience but his ceiling is so much higher than Newkirk.

To be fair, I think Crean was taking his chances with other players rebounding missed threes as opposed to the Newkirk turnover...
