if I remember correctly gedion wasn't even number 2. On the initial depth chart that was released last month or so.

What’s a mediocre year for most programs is a great year in Bloomington. That’s why reaching bowl games in back-to-back seasons – the first that had happened in 25 years – was such a big deal for Indiana. Now, the Hoosiers have a really good chance to make a postseason appearance for a third-straight year.

Allen inherited a program on the rise after Kevin Wilson’s abrupt departure at the end of the 2016 season. The past two seasons have somewhat resurrected Indiana football, but Allen has vowed to get the Hoosiers to the next level.

Looking at Indiana’s schedule, seven wins should be relatively easy considering the talent that returns on both sides of the ball. Nick Westbrook and Simmie Cobbs are two of the best wide receivers in the B1G. And a defense led by Tegray Scales and Rashad Fant is going to be formidable in the B1G.

Five wins are almost guaranteed for the Hoosiers, considering matchups against the following teams:

• FIU
• Georgia Southern
• Illinois
• Rutgers
• Purdue

That means Indiana would need just two more wins over teams like Virginia, Michigan State and Maryland, to get to the seven-win mark. It’s an attainable goal for a program that hasn’t posted a winning record in 10 years.

But if Allen wants to prove Indiana is really turning a corner, the Hoosiers must knock off one of the B1G’s bluebloods this fall.

Allen has already pegged Indiana’s first game against Ohio State as the “biggest home opener” in the history of the program. That could be a scary matchup for the Buckeyes in Week 1. We’ve already picked the Hoosiers to beat either Michigan or Ohio State this season. Athlon Sports thinks Indiana has a great chance to take down Wisconsin. A victory over any of those teams would be monumental.

Indiana enters the year with one of the best teams it’s had in years. This really could be a special year in Bloomington. Anything short of seven wins would be somewhat of a disappointment."

Indiana Football and guaranteed win don't exactly go together. A lot of questions still to be answered on the offensive side of the ball. I would be ecstatic with 7 wins, but I'm expecting 4-6.

I think 7 wins may be a little optimistic as well but I think 6-6 and a third consecutive bowl game is achievable with the defense we'll have.

I think 7 wins is definitely attainable and probably should be guaranteed but there's always 1 or 2 games every year we lose to someone we shouldn't have. I also think this year has to be the year we take down someone good. Probably either Ohio State or Michigan. We though it was last year but turns out not so much. I'll set my expectations at 6 wins but stay optimistic for more.

The team with a true freshman Zander Diamont at quarterback for 2/3 of the year and the worst defense in the country won 4 games. Come on now.

I am always too optimistic , but the bowl game against Utah makes me somewhat more confident. I think the defense will be fine and Lagow now has another season under his belt and should be improved. So I think 7-5 is quite possible.

Ellison has been really impressing, based on everything I'm hearing. So it wouldn't shock me if he wins it eventually. Would be kind of surprised if he already did though.

He's right behind me on the depth chart....but i'm running in a serpentine pattern so it's all good :)

Hopefully Ellison is good enough to step right in at RB and fill that position.  Either that or a returning RB shows more than they have to date.

Athlon Sports ranked IU's linebacker unit as the 20th best in the nation for the upcoming season. According to them, our LB unit is the 4th best in the Big Ten (only Iowa, OSU, and Wisconsin are ranked in front).

We all know Tegray is one of the best LBs in the country but I think Covington is going to surprise people too. I have heard he is just as good as Tegray and maybe even more athletic.

I think Covington is a good player, but no way am I buying he's just as good as Tegray.

So according to Twitter, we received the commitment of another CB from the Baltimore area, Terrell Smith? He announced it on his page but none of the coaches have tweeted about it and according to some he did not hold an offer from IU?
