  1. Coach Cig has as many conference wins through 3 games as Tom Allen has in his last 3 seasons.
  2. I get that the Big Noon game is the premiere game, but I’ll always prefer a night game. Just better vibes, imo.
  3. IU basketball has played zero games between them and now, so not exactly sure why you’d expect opinions to be different…
  4. Just as I predicted so far. Hope I’m wrong about our next game, though.
  5. He should still be fired for hiring/retaining Mike Woodson. Coach Cig shows you don’t need multiple years to rebuild a program. You just need a competent coach.
  6. Platers are free to do whatever they want. But if I’m a coach trying to build a culture, guys who quit on their team mid season aren’t exactly who I’m looking to fill my roster with. The fact he didn’t fit Coach Cig’s culture says a lot, imo.
  7. Obviously IU can’t compete with Florida’s resources, but the problem for them is kinda like the problem for iubb. Dan Mullen went 10-3 (5-3), 11-2 (6-2), and 8-4 (8-3), and then got fired for one bad 5-6 season. Now, in addition to schools like Bama, Georgia, LSU, and Tennessee, you also have to compete against Texas and Oklahoma. The UF administration will expect you to be as good as those teams on a yearly basis and will fire you if you aren’t. Those results make you the greatest coach in IUFB history. It’s unrealistic to expect 10-11 win seasons consistently at IU, but 8 or 9 win seasons are entirely realistic now that divisions are gone. Maybe it’s always been his dream to coach a premier program. If that’s the case, it’ll be hard to keep him given the demand there will be after this season. But the iu job pays him millions of dollars a year to coach in a top 2 conference at a school with low expectations but increasing resources.
  8. It’s really clear as day that the elbow hit first. I’m shocked that the refs got it right, though.
  9. Wild stat. Tom Allen was soooo bad. https://twitter.com/zachosterman/status/1837570895231307793?s=46&t=LoczziaTWuqlhvyvHGT92A
  10. The blue jersey makes him defenseless.
  11. This game has taught me that IU isn’t allowed to tackle anymore. For every one legitimate targeting call there are about 50 absurd ones.
  12. Lmao how tf can you rough the passer when he doesn’t even make a throw. I absolutely hate all these rules
  13. Targeting might be the worst rule in the game.
  14. Night and day difference between Allen and Coach Cig on the sidelines. Allen would be doing cartwheels at this point. Cig’s style is a breath of fresh air.
  15. Notre Dame once again proving itself as the most fraudulent team in college football. A yearly tradition.
  16. Coaching a team his kids/Hunter don’t play on would probably be his best bet because there’s no way the blatant favoritism doesn’t cause riffs in the locker room. Then again Shedeur and Hunter are pretty good so who knows if Deion would have any success coaching a team without them.
  17. I was just being a smart*** from FSU fans using that excuse after getting boat raced by Georgia in the Orange Bowl.
  18. Was FSU playing with its starters?
  19. IU kept Crean for 9 years, including his first 3 years during which he was able to lose as much as possible without any criticism from the fan base. How many years should he have gotten to prevent IU from losing candidates because of “sucky coaching retention”?
  20. Why is it so hard for you to grasp that we have a high turnover rate because we’re not winning consistently, not vice versa? What about Crean’s 15-57 record in the SEC makes you think we let a good one go too soon? What about Archie’s 21-42 record makes you think IU lost a good one? IU’s problem is that it makes joke hires like Mike Woodson and then keeps them for too long because “you gotta give em time to get it going!”
  21. Of the post-Knight IU coaches, which guy would you say is Jay Wright, which is Coach K, and which is Dan Hurley?
  22. All the talk about all-time great coaches who struggled early on is completely meaningless to IU’s situation. We’ve fired three coaches since Bob Knight for poor performance. After being fired by IU, none of them have high-major success. Davis was decent at times at lower levels, Crean was terrible at Georgia, and Miller is terrible at Rhode Island Sure, some coaches struggle early on and then go on to have great success. That. Is. Not. What. Has. Happened. At. IU. The coaches IU has hired have all been terrible post-Knight, except for Sampson who never should’ve been fired. IU’s problem is hiring terrible coaches and then keeping them for too not, not firing coaches “too early.”
