I was just being a smart*** from FSU fans using that excuse after getting boat raced by Georgia in the Orange Bowl.
-
Was FSU playing with its starters?

IU kept Crean for 9 years, including his first 3 years during which he was able to lose as much as possible without any criticism from the fan base. How many years should he have gotten to prevent IU from losing candidates because of “sucky coaching retention”?
-
Why is it so hard for you to grasp that we have a high turnover rate because we’re not winning consistently, not vice versa? What about Crean’s 15-57 record in the SEC makes you think we let a good one go too soon? What about Archie’s 21-42 record makes you think IU lost a good one? IU’s problem is that it makes joke hires like Mike Woodson and then keeps them for too long because “you gotta give em time to get it going!”
-
Of the post-Knight IU coaches, which guy would you say is Jay Wright, which is Coach K, and which is Dan Hurley?
-
All the talk about all-time great coaches who struggled early on is completely meaningless to IU’s situation. We’ve fired three coaches since Bob Knight for poor performance. After being fired by IU, none of them have high-major success. Davis was decent at times at lower levels, Crean was terrible at Georgia, and Miller is terrible at Rhode Island Sure, some coaches struggle early on and then go on to have great success. That. Is. Not. What. Has. Happened. At. IU. The coaches IU has hired have all been terrible post-Knight, except for Sampson who never should’ve been fired. IU’s problem is hiring terrible coaches and then keeping them for too not, not firing coaches “too early.”

Absolutely nothing Mike Woodson did in his first three seasons “deserves” a fourth season. He got a fourth season because Scott Dolson is a puppet and Woodson’s buddy is the one calling the shots.
-
This post is ironic because Mike Woodson is captain butthurt. He can’t take even the slightest criticism. I truly have absolutely no idea how he survived the nyc media for 2.5 years.
-
But he’s not coming off a final four season. He’s coming off an utter embarrassment of a season, capped off by a 27 point blowout loss to drawing Nebraska that Woody quit on his team during. When that happens? Hell yeah people are going to be pissed off by him behaving like a jack*** to anyone who doesn’t worship his existence.
-
Nah, we know what floor is. We just see Woodson’s supporters intentionally setting a low floor so that expectations aren’t too high.
-
So, by your numbers, Mike Woodson is 16 years older than the average D1 head coach, and he’s older than more than 94% of D1 coaches. It’s not age discrimination, it’s reality. Mike Woodson’s age (or any coach’s age) is an important factor when considering whether to give said struggling coach time for rebuilding seasons. If your coach is already 66 years old and won’t be coaching in 5 years anyway, why bother going through a rebuild?
-
You’re acting like he won a couple tournaments. First, saying IU hadn’t made a tournament since 2016 is deceptive. IU would’ve certainly made the tournament in 2020 but for a once in a century pandemic. Second, no top of the line candidate will be scared by a school having higher expectations than making the tournament 66% of the time. How freaking far has IU fallen than making the tournament 2 out of 3 times and then getting blown out is enough to keep your job safe?
-
Mike Woodson is 66 years old, and an old 66 at that. Bob Knight was 33 years old the summer before his 4th season at IU. Literally half as old. Even if you ignore the Grand Canyon sized gap between the two coaches’ first three years at IU (1 tournament win and a 31-29 conference record for one of them vs. a final four appearance, 2 conference titles, and a 32-10 conference record for the other), the guy half the age of the other guy is going to get more leash because there’s a chance of him being your coach for the next 30 years. Mike Woodson has one foot through the retirement door at this stage.

EA Sports College Football 25

The sim machine is awful. Games are 50/50 regardless of the disparity between the teams’ ratings. Dynasty is bare bones. No way to go back and look up prior heisman winners, etc. The heisman leaderboard doesn’t show their season stats. The rankings make little sense. You’ll have 3 or 4 loss teams ranked above Bugs with recruiting. Before the recent patch you often couldn’t schedule visits with recruits despite being in their top 5 No dynamic lighting. A 4:00pm November game stays light the entire game. Not a big deal but would be cool. The commentary is atrocious and often doesn’t match with what’s happening in the game. No pregame shows. Even the old games had that Visually it looks great and I have few complaints about the game play, but it’s very bare bones. Was expecting a more immersive experience with how long they had to create the game, but can’t expect too much from EA Sports I guess. -

The game is fun because we’re finally able to play college football again, but once you get past that it has a TON of issues. They had so much time to put this together and did a really bad job with it. Better than nothing but still disappointing. -

With as insufferable and divisive as Woodson has been following an awful season, it’s hard to imagine him changing character and becoming someone likable if he’s having a good season. But hey, maybe a really great season would make Woodson decide to ride off into the sunset. That would be worth celebrating. -

Lmao piss off. You’re not the arbiter of IU fanhood. You can’t sit there and argue with a straight face that Tom Allen winning a couple more games last year to save his job would’ve been the best thing for the IU football program. Yet according to you, I’m a phony for rooting for those losses. Instant gratification isn’t always the best thing. -

Last year? Absolutely. The season was a lost cause. The few wins he picked up at the end of the season did nothing for IU’s postseason, but they may have saved Woodson’s job. Folks are going to feel how they feel about that, but I view it as no different from a team tanking for a top draft pick. Sometimes a loss is the best thing for a program. I did the same thing with IU football last season. I didn’t like Tom Allen, the team was terrible, so I rooted for losses because that was the only way to get rid of him. It worked and IU ended up with Cignatti. Can anyone really argue that IU football would be in a better position if Allen had squeaked out a couple wins to save his job? This year I plan to just not watch/pay attention. I don’t like Mike Woodson, and I don’t like watching his teams play basketball. At least IU football might be fun this year. -

I’ve never claimed to be a Mike Woodson fan. I’ve hated the hire from day 1. I root for the result that will get IU a new coach. -

“Put in their place” what awful discourse lmao. You would fit right in with the Mike Woodson brain trust. I don’t care to root for a coach who feels the need to “put fans in their place” for being upset after a terrible season. He sucked at his job last season. Instead of owning that he attacked the fans, attacked the media, and likely coordinated a social media campaign also attacking the fans. I wouldn’t keep buying a company’s crappy product after the CEO attacked consumers for being upset with the crappy product. Same with Mike Woodson. The only “butt hurt” person is Mike Woodson, evidenced by him blowing up on the Hysterics for being moderately critical of him. He expects complete capitulation despite coming nowhere close to earning it. -

UK did what IU did, hired a guy only because he went to the school, and they still managed to make a far better hire than IU did. Administration just can’t/wont get out of its own way.
