  1. You’re the one who named Mgbako specifically as definitive proof that the claim this staff can’t develop shooting is a “narrative.” And even he shot 32.7% from 3 last year. The proof is in the pudding that IU has been the worst 3pt shooting team in the Big 10 over Woodson’s tenure. Just look at the numbers. But, as the big dog said himself, it’s not his job to get players shots.
  2. IU has gone 14th, 14th, and 13th in the conference in 3 point makes during Woodson’s tenure. It’s really not the hill to die on when defending him.
  3. Meh, the “optics” point is always overblown. Losing two in-state 5 star recruits within a month is bad optics too. The media’s always gonna media. You can’t let the fear of bad optics paralyze you into keeping a middling coach longer than you should keep him.
  4. There’s zero chance a guy with Mike Woodson’s ego voluntarily steps aside. The only person/thing he cares about is himself.
  5. If Woody’s going to retire then they should announce it now so that I can enjoy this season without the looming threat of future Woody seasons clouding the year. It’s not like it’ll have a negative impact on high school recruiting given his recent results.
  6. At this point Stevens hasn’t coached college basketball in more than a decade and hasn’t coached basketball at all for 3+ seasons. I’m not convinced he’s be the savior people make him out to be. We need a grinder like Coach Cig who lives and breathes his sport.
  7. It probably also depends on how well Jackson plays. Not that IU would force an injured player to play, but if Jackson plays well then there’s less pressure to get Rourke back onto the field asap.
  8. Why are you so deadset on it being a broken thumb? The initial reports during the game referenced blood, which is in line with a thumb nail issue.
  9. I hope it’s not Cuban, though I definitely could see it being him. There are many better options, imo.
  10. Great sign he’s planning to come Saturday. Seems like often in recruiting the rescheduled visit after a canceled visit doesn’t happen. With the season we’ve had, this isn’t just a guy giving lip service to a program because he’s had a longtime relationship with one of the coaches, imo. We’re 7-0, 4-0 in the conference, while the school he’s currently committed to is 3-4 and 16th in the conference. We’re higher in the country than USC is in the Big 10.
  11. Losing Rourke is a huge blow but I guess on the bright side it’ll tell us whether Jackson is someone we can count on for next season.
  12. We can’t let another school outbid us. If it’s his lifelong goal to go coach at Florida and get fired after 3 years if he doesn’t win a national championship, nothing you can do about that. But you can’t lose him because of finances. Any amount you pay him will be earned back through his teams’ performances, and then some.
  13. I don’t think he’s calling off the dogs but TJ seems decent enough that you can play him to avoid further injury to Rourke without having to go into conservative playcalling.
  14. I love how the camera pans to Coach Cig after the score and he’s just staring straight ahead. Our other last coach would be hyperventilating doing cartwheels at this stage.
  15. Haven’t been impressed thus far by the Patrick Mahomes cosplayer.
  16. Idk if Coach Cig will leave or not, but there’s really no reason he can’t win as many games at IU as he could at a school like Florida. And IU fans will be a helluva lot happier about 8-9 win seasons than they would be.
  17. To quote the late great Coach Knight, Coach Cig isn’t here to **** around this week.
  18. 6 of the 12 players on last year’s roster were new. 7 of the 13 players on this year’s roster are new. You’re not going to build continuity/a system when half your guys each year are new to the program.
  19. Time will tell with Painter. No team will be completely filled with Indiana guys, but 3 of his 5 starters were Indiana guys and a fourth was from Illinois. He has a system/identity, and he fills his teams with guys who fit that identity. IU has no identity as a program. Maybe I wouldn’t care if we didn’t have any Indiana players if we were winning all the time, but I would still want the players to have an “Bob Knight basketball” mentality. Tough, hard nosed, hardworking, law-abiding. You don’t have to be from Indiana to be a Hoosier. Victor Oladipo was from the DMV but he was a Hoosier through and through. We’re going into the fourth year of the Mike Woodson experience and I have absolutely no idea what a Mike Woodson basketball player is supposed to look like. Frankly, I don’t think Mike Woodson does either.
  20. Put me on ignore then. You responding to every post of mine is weird, frankly, and contradicts your claim that my opinion “should be valued the same as a Purdue or Kentucky fan.”
  21. I’m not a stockholder of IU, I’m an alum. I root for the team because it’s where I went to school and it’s the school I feel a connection toward. If we become a school that just swaps in a team full of new mercenaries each year, what connection do they really have to the school? At that point you’re the Bloomington minor league basketball team, not the Indiana University Hoosiers. I can’t stand Purdue, but it must be nice as hell to be a fan of that school’s basketball team. You get to have a great coach, you get to win a ton, and you get to do it with a roster full of Indiana kids who come for the school, not the paycheck. We get none of those things.
  22. He’s a take I’m sure you’ll like. An uber talented 5 star kid from Indiana who wanted to play for IU chose not to come here specifically because he didn’t want to play for Mike Woodson. A few weeks ago another 5 star kid from Indiana chose not to play for Mike Woodson. But hey, AH says Mike Woodson is killing it with high school recruits, so I must just be making this up.
