  1. The hype from signing the #2 player in the country may be worth $2.5 million, but I can’t blame the staff for being hesitant o fork that kind of cash over to a 17 year old reclass.
  2. That’s right. As a day 0 hater of the Mike Woodson hire, I’ll be driving the bus until the end. Consider me the #truefan version of a hater.
  3. Correct. If we can manage to hire an elite football coach given IUFB’s history of misery as one of the worst programs in college, then there’s no reason we can’t do the same for IU basketball, one of the best programs in college.
  4. Big time college football basically prints money. Pay Cig whatever he wants and don’t let him leave until retirement.
  5. Agreed. Absolutely nothing we’ve heard about/seen from Mike Woodson suggests he’ll go away graciously.
  6. You don’t have to be a first round pick to be a stud college player. We see that all the time in college basketball. He’s at the top or near the top of every passing category in the conference this year. A “steady” and “consistent” player is a game manager type to me. Rourke is the type who can go out and win games for you, not just go out and not lose them.
  7. Uhh, ok. He’s been consistently great for us this season. He’s completing 75% of his passes with 15 tds to 3 ints, and has the best rating in the Big 10. Not entirely sure what ‘stud’ territory would be for you.
  8. Rourke is one of the best quarterback in the Big 10 this season… Maybe the best this far.
  9. Technically his 3rd year (and 6th for Rourke), but I hope I’m wrong! He has the physical attributes and it certainly will be better if we can rely on a guy who knows the system.
  10. Sorry but we need a stud if we want the same results next year. He’s not bad by any means but he’s not elite either. Maybe part of it is the staff not trusting him because he seems to have a strong arm.
  11. Well at least now we know we need to hit the portal for a QB for next season. Hope Rourke is back next week.
  12. Offense is looking a little better. Obviously not as good as with Rourke but serviceable.
  13. Jackson’s not looking good. Need rourke back soon.
  14. Sometimes losing is better for the program. Losing last football season was by far the best outcome for the football program. If Allen had won another game or two, we don’t hire Coach Cig, and we wouldn’t be 7-0 hosting college game day tomorrow. The worst thing for IU basketball is for Mike Woodson to still be the head coach this time next year. Whatever results we have to have this season to make sure that doesn’t happen, I do not care.
  15. Yeah real coaches give up 90+ to Nebraska in the BTT to lose to them for the 3rd time in a season.
  16. Imo we should just transfer IU’s endowment over to Coach Cig to use as he sees fit for the football program.
  17. It’s a good roster on paper. We’ll find out soon whether it’s a good roster on the court. Unfortunately, we’ll never know how good it truly could be because of the staff on the bench.
  18. It’s ironic that he accuses others of pushing narratives when he’s all over the place with which games’ stats should count and which shouldn’t. For Mgbako, apparently only his 20 regular season games count. For Rice, his 0-22 stretch doesn’t count. Also the stats from his full conference season don’t count because he shot 24.6% from 3 during those games.
  19. “He’s a good shooter if you take out his 0-22 stretch during the most important part of the season” is a helluva take.
  20. Now you’re shifting the goalposts because the numbers you initially quoted were wrong. And lol at calling me an idiot for a statement I never made because you’re upset I corrected your misinformation. This 38% doesn’t include the 1-10 he shot from 3 in the conference tournament. Picking and choosing which games you want to count and not count is the definition of pushing a narrative. This whole discussion is dumb. Defend Woodson until the cows come home if you want, but there’s no defending his teams’ 3pt shooting.
  21. You cut that portion of the post out when you responded to it. And your numbers are wrong. Mgbako shot 36-104 from 3 in January-March, which is 34.6%. That’s nothing to write home about. He shot 14-49 from 3 in November-December, which is 28.6% so, a 6% increase, far from an increase of “tenfold in a matter of months,” and the increased percentage still wasn’t good.
  22. You’re the one who named Mgbako specifically as definitive proof that the claim this staff can’t develop shooting is a “narrative.” And even he shot 32.7% from 3 last year. The proof is in the pudding that IU has been the worst 3pt shooting team in the Big 10 over Woodson’s tenure. Just look at the numbers. But, as the big dog said himself, it’s not his job to get players shots.
