  1. ??? This makes no sense. The NBA scouts aren't going to tell him anything to improve on that the average IU fan couldn't tell him.
  2. I've got nothing against the kid. I sincerely hope he proves us all wrong. I just fear we've wasted a scholarship on a kid whose talent level is closer to hper than it is to Assembly Hall.
  3. Wouldn't it put us back at even if Troy comes back since Gelon isn't using his? I'm not sure how exactly that would work out, I'm just thinking of options if someone has to leave. I really can't see it being Priller. His girlfriend goes here and he's getting a full-ride, idk why he would give that up.
  4. Prep school for a year for him if Troy comes back? Just a thought.
  5. Heard that as well, and that the last straw was some of Troy's buddies stealing Luke's stuff. I don't Luke fit in with the culture of IU basketball at the time whatsoever. Sure wish he had stuck around, though.
  6. What could've been for Troy. I don't think there's any way he's back next year. It's seemed to me like he's had a foot out the door since his sophomore year. He's got all the potential in the world, but potential only gets you so far. The most important thing he can improve on is what goes on between his ears. Hopefully he figures out what he wants and listens to the right people. If he doesn't, he's never laughing to the bank with anything but a D League check.
  7. In my opinion I don't think the NCAA cares about academics at all, so I don't see them ever rewarding schools for excellent academic performance. I like the idea of rewarding schools with a 14th scholarship, but a better system for determining academic performance would be needed. I mean, even UK gets great APR scores so I question how accurately it really measures academic performance. On a side note, I'm proud of how seriously IUBB takes academics. I've got a 9:30 am class with Hartman and he's been there every day, even the mornings after late road games. I would imagine the same is true for our other guys. It's nice to see IU honoring their commitment of educating these guys instead of simply trying to keep them eligible with bogus classes.
  8. Crean's going to be back next year and I don't know how I feel about that. I felt pretty proud when they were talking about a "matchup between two historic programs with 5 titles a piece," but then I came back to reality and remembered that ours are 30+ years in the past. This year was a lot of fun and Assembly was rocking during Big 10 season. Crean showed improvement at times but I don't know if that's here to stay or if it was a flash in the pan. Crean's best seasons here have been Sweet 16's and in his worst seasons we struggle to even make the tournament. If we ever want to be relevant again that can't be the case. Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, their best seasons in recent years have been championships. They obviously don't win every year and they have their down seasons, but every year they expect to compete for a national championship. That's just not a reality for IU right now. I think Tom Crean has had enough time here to prove that he's not capable of doing that. It doesn't mean that he's not a great guy, it doesn't mean that the players don't love him, it doesn't even mean that he's a bad coach. He just doesn't have what it takes, imo, to get us back to the program we all want to be. Maybe he proves me wrong next season and we have another great year, I sincerely hope he does. I just won't hold my breath for it. It is what it is, and ultimately it's up to the administration to decide what kind of program they want us to be. If they want to be a good program that graduates players and has a chance to make the sweet 16 every few years, go ahead and keep him. If they want to go back to being a top 5 program in the country, or at least have a chance of it, then it's time to open up the check books and bring in someone capable of doing so.
  9. I don't wanna see Troy for the rest of the half, at the least. The last thing we need is selfish, stupid basketball.
  10. Something's just been off with Blackmon since he got here imo. Nothing negative or anything, I think he just thought he'd have a short stay at IU and then be off to the NBA. Now that reality set in and he realizes he's not on that level he's frustrated. A mid-life crisis at 20 years old almost. I want him back, but only if he wants to start playing some defense.
  11. Dang, send someone my way. I've got one for sale if I can get anywhere close to $500 for it.
  12. At this point I honestly just wonder how much Troy likes basketball. With his athleticism the only person stopping him from being a lottery pick is himself, and yet he hasn't really improved any of the things keeping him out of it. I cringe whenever he has the ball in his hands on anything other than an oop, and his defense is still pretty terrible for someone as athletic as him. We've got a guy in OG that can replace Troy whenever he leaves, and I wouldn't be upset if that was after this season.
  13. For me earlier this season it was a combination of the quality of our out of conference schedule and the way they screwed up the student tickets by expanding GA to the balcony. Either walking 20 minutes both ways from my apartment or driving and dealing with the awful traffic to likely sit in the balcony and watch a game against a school I've never heard of just wasn't very appealing.  A lot of people that I have talked to feel the same way.  I would rather head to the bars with some friends to watch.  I'm looking forward to the Big 10 games, but with LSAT studying taking up most of my time these days I just don't have the time to wait in the GA line for a few hours before tipoff to avoid the nosebleeds.  I preferred my first two years at IU where we got a couple GA tickets and then guaranteed seats for the rest of our games.  College kids nowadays just have too many sources of entertainment IMO.  Like has been said above me, this has been a problem for many colleges across the country, not just at IU.  It'll probably take a truly special team to get the students to consistently fill Assembly Hall again.
  14. Thomas Bryant is HYPED right now.
  15. I lived on the same floor as both Kenney and Latham freshman year... Sad to see that it looks like nothing has changed at all for Latham, this doesn't really surprise me.
  16. I'm wondering the same thing. I'm hoping an 8:00 game, especially if we're going into it 4-0. Man that'd be hype.
  17. I wonder how often these things happen.
  18. I hope he does well this year, he's a really nice kid. I was pleasantly surprised to see the student section full from bottom to top at kickoff last night. It cleared out quite a bit after halftime like usual, but at least I had a better seat for the second half.
  19. Has Davis said anything about a decision timeline?
  20. I love it when guys stay true to themselves after they blow up. With all the negative things you hear about professional athletes these days it's nice seeing things like this.
  21. Idk what all recruits do on their visits, but coming the weekend after syllabus week should leave them with a good impression of the IU social life.
  22. He's got some serious bunnies for a 6'1 dude. Hopefully the surgery doesn't limit his athleticism.
  23. No. Calipari's a shady guy and I'd wager that some shady deals have brought top talent to Kentucky. I don't want us to sacrifice our integrity to bring in 5-star players every year. A balance where we have a mix of experienced upperclassman and talented freshmen/sophomores, like this year, is what I want to consistently see from IU.
  24. I don't doubt it. I don't have anything against one and dones. If Harry Giles, Rawle Alkins and Thon Maker all called up Crean tomorrow morning and said they want to play for IU next year I'd probably have an aneurysm from the excitement. I just don't want to see that become our primary recruiting strategy.
