Aaron Johnson: My impressions of Hoosier Hysteria
Kepner replied to theronjohn1's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Don't have to imagine it, it happened last year against them on the Canadian trip..... -
Oh I got a good laugh out of this. This whole deal sounded way too fishy from the start.

Indiana vs. Rutgers Post-Game Tread
Kepner replied to HoosierReb01's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Kind of like a Mike Davis situation. Wilson can recruit out the wazhoo but it doesn't translate on the field all too often -
Kansas was overrated last year and seems to be starting the season off in the same spot. Cant wait for IU to knock them down
-
Also have to take into account that Howland was in the middle of a huge scandal at UCLA as well. He had no control over his team off the court and really didn't care about it. Kind of like Sampson 2.0

Academic Violations at UCLA?

Still no word on UNC either and they were just ranked #1 in a poll -
Academic Violations at UCLA?
Kepner replied to Walking Boot of Doom's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Growth of social media. Harder to keep info in -
The only problem is for kids now, Indiana has no history or culture for them recently. Indiana has no had success in their lifetime so its hard to argue that point. I think its just kids in general. There have always been Indiana and regional kids who come in and play well or come in and are idiots. Yogi is a local kid and at times doesn't get it. Then we go out and get Grant Gelon, an Indiana kid through and through, and all that people did was complain. I don't think its really an Indiana vs other state issue. Its just an issue with college age kids in general. Im not giving them any excuse but look at all the programs around the nation and it seems like every program has been hit with problems like us. For example MSU currently has two players suspended indefinitely for off the court issues (one of them is an Indiana kid). I do agree with you on most of your points through. I think Crean is a good coach but I think the relationship has hit its mark. I don't see it working out too much longer

(2018) PG Robert Phinisee to Cincinnati
Kepner replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think with the current trends in recruiting (recruits mostly waiting till the last minute to decide) we'll see the JBJ/Lyles situation happening way less -
I don't see the problem with offering the kid. Not every player that we are going to bring in is going to an All American. When we brought Zeisloft in, the majority of fans were really against it. He played a certain role for our team and I think Gelon can come in and fill the same roll. And if it doesn't work out it could be a Max Hoetzel situation and he could find greener pastures somewhere else. Plus he is an Indiana kid. To many complain that we don't go after them. For all we know he could turn into a lesser version of Kellen Dunham for us.

IU vs Western Kentucky Game Thread
Kepner replied to Naturalhoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
This play calling is ridiculous -
I agree there should be a 2 or 3 year minimum. More and more conferences are starting to "guarantee" scholarships for players but there is no commitment really the other way
-
No please, the NBA is just barely crawling out of the era ruined but unprepared high school kids. AAU ball has ruined most kids enough. Kids need college ball to develop.

They tried to throw big money at 2015 recruits (including Isaiah Briscoe, now at Kentucky) and were turned down. The Dealers first "big signings"? Former Pacer David Harrison and Royce White.... http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13629240/semi-pro-las-vegas-dealers-agree-deal-david-harrison-targets-royce-white

And don't forget the missed extra point by S Illinois earlier in the game. If they would've made that, that would've been all the difference. But its easy to play the what if game after the fact

Fischer talk real good hahahah

Anywhere to watch the game online?

I honestly feel like its always been this way, just with social media and more attention, it gets put out in the open. Its happening all over the country. Doesn't make it right but still

(2018) PG Robert Phinisee to Cincinnati
Kepner replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Adeway is talented. I saw him play in person a lot last year. Im from Logansport and would travel home on weekend to watch him play. Really talented. I think he could thrive at a place like Butler or Ball State -
Im still hoping for a few other 2016/2017 kids. The times that I saw Jones/Bridges/ Bryant's team play on ESPN I was never impressed with Jones. High volume shooter that didn't seem to connect very much

PITT Transfer Josh Newkirk is headed to IU!
Kepner replied to Sam_Boger's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Besides Yogi, Crean has always relied on combo guards. The way he really wants his offense is to have a few combo guards in there that can all handle the ball and I think if you bring in a few of the combo guys together it would work. There are a few really good point guard prospects that we are recruiting in 16'/17' but they aren't connected to us as much as the combos. I agree about the question though, but I think that has more to do with the player that Yogi is. You could ask the same question after we had Zeller and Vonleh though. But thats a whole other topic that gets people bent out of shape haha PS I went back and looked and we are connected to 2017 pg Markus Howard from Findley Prep, the kid can play! I would love to add him. 2017 class is going to be one of the best in Indiana in a long time and probably nationally as well. Hope we have a few scholarships for that year -
PITT Transfer Josh Newkirk is headed to IU!
Kepner replied to Sam_Boger's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Besides Curtis Jones, what other PG are we really going after in 2016/2017? Bruce Brown,Paul Scruggs, and Alkins are combo guards and this way with Newkirk, they don't have to be forced into the point guard position but can still handle the ball. I don't think we are losing anything by adding him. I haven't seen enough of Newkirk to judge but I don't see it as a negative. He will be an upperclassman while these 16'/17' guys are just coming in and thats an added plus -
I don't think he was a walk on though

All the conspiracy theories coming out of the wood work now

I'm blinded by something? No its called my opinion. Geez. Why is that every time someone else shared and opinion that throws Crean into the mud it's fine, but I make a comment saying I don't think his relationships with coaches are that bad and all of a sudden I'm "blind" cause of my OPINION. The whole point of this board is to share opinions so get over yourself. I'm just saying the 2017 Indy Hoosiers AAU team has all of the top talent for that class on the team and I know one of the kids on it and he says that their coach loves Crean and his style. All the players go to multiple IU games and have nothing but positive things to day about Crean. There is a fact for you
