Izzo always looks like his head is about to explode

College basketball looks like an open field this year. Lots of early upsets and the top teams haven't looked too scary
-
They also released on of Grant Gelon last Friday and it was TERRIBLE

I'll have to see Purdue do it for a long stretch before believing in them this year. They had good shooters last year, but they weren't consistent down the stretch so we will see how it goes. Im very curious how they will do when their bench is challenged cause I don't think they have much depth at all.

I think if Blackmon Jr stays (which I think he will) him and Rojo will start with either Newark, Brown, or Cujo in the backcourt with DD and Bryant down low. You can easily play a three guard lineup when you have two great big men down low
-
I definitely see OG fitting in on the wing after this year. Thats what the coaching staff is developing him for, to play the wing. He has a decent shot already and has the athleticism to do defend 3s.
-
Murray did play, and looked REALLY good
-
Hammons didn't play in Purdue's opener. I don't understand kids like him. Tons of potential and all the opportunities in the world and he continues to waste them away. He is going to lose his shot at the NBA if he keeps it up.

I feel like this has happened a couple of times now with games played on aircraft carries and whatnot. Can they just stop having them overall.

11,11, and 5 is considered a monster debut these days? Thats sold but I don't know about monster

On a side note, these student announcers are super awkward. The sideline interviews were some of the most awkward Ive ever seen -

I have never understood how every year we hear that IU wants to play quick and play fast but this is not a fast break team. We hustle up court then slow it down for our half court offense. Of course you don't want to force anything but I think if we ran it up court we could surprise a lot of teams for some easy buckets -

Seems ironic that they wanted to change the shot clock to quicken the pace of the game yet they are tightening the rules on physicality (which results in more fouls)?? -

WAY too many ticky-tack foul calls. I really don't like the new touch foul rules. The refs usually called too many fouls as it is. I don't understand trying to quicken the pace with the shot shock and different rules, then having the refs call so many little fouls. The refs seems very fair during the exhibition games but tonight its ridiculous. The fans are starting to make noise with every foul call for both teams cause its getting to be too much -
I know Thon is an athletic player that can play down low and on the wing but evidently he loved Notre Dame's pitch of having him be the only big man surrounded constantly by 4 shooters, so Im not sure if he wants to play the wing as we all think. I think we should just give Bruce Brown all we got and add him as our last piece. He is a guard that will stay multiple years and would probably come in and be able to contribute with his D and scoring from day 1
-
I feel like he will go no matter if he is truly ready or not

Senior Watford vs Freshman Hammons. Hammons did drop 30 on us one of those games. Im not trying to sell Watford but he definitely wasn't in there for his D and he was playing out of his position so Ill give him that. No problem with Watford. Comparing him to DD is like apples and oranges though really. DD will be more of a DJ White than Watford for us.
-
I think Bryant and DD will be more of a front court. Watford was a wing that was playing out of position as a 4. He was out there for his offense. I don't think DD as a four brings the same permitter play but his defense, rebounding, and post game will be better. In other words I see DD and Watford as two very different positions. This will be the most traditional front court we've had in a long time. Someone said it in another thread but DD will be like DJ White

Cody was a lottery pick. Vic was a lottery pic. Marcus Smart was a project high lottery pick after his freshman year and chose to come back. It happens every year that players choose to come back after great seasons. Its not just set in stone that players will leave after a great year. Heck last year Kris Dunn from Providence was considered by all as a lottery pick and he surprised everyone by deciding to go back to school. Jacob Poeltl from Utah was projected as a mid first rounder by all the draft experts and he decided to come back. There are multiple examples
-
Yes he did immediately after putting on the IU hat
-
Not necessarily. There are players that have great years and just decide to stay. JBJ had a great year for a freshman last year. Cody had great years and stayed

Mike Miller @MikeMillerHT 5m 5 minutes ago Not sure of the source, but I heard a few loud cheers from the hallway outside the IU locker room after Davis committed. #iubb

I was waiting for someone to say it

So how long will it take to actually get to the announcement? 10/15 minutes?
-
Have you never watched one of these?(sarcasm) It seems like players always put a hat on and bend it the way they like it anyways hahah
