  2. Coach talk. Love it! I really want CDD to succeed. He was brave/dumb enough to take on this dysfunctional program, when others wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Saw quite a bit of really good sets ran last year, with below average quickness and athleticism to execute them. We've upgraded our size, quickness, and talent. This year should tell us everything we need to know about our coach.
  3. With the stipulation that we still need to be able to hit 3s and there's not much proven volume shooting on this roster
  4. To me, it feels less like an overcorrection and more like an adaptation to what has consistently worked in the B1G and the NCAA Tournament. It reminds me of comments Todd Golden made recently (discussing the value of shooting fewer 3s and more at the rim 2s): That volatility has hurt DeVries too. He’s 1–3 in the NCAA Tournament, and his teams held second-half leads in all three losses. That’s part of why this shift feels less like a philosophical overreaction and more like an attempt to build a style that travels better in March.
  5. The difference is now they know just how much cash these schools are pumping through their programs. There's money to be made from offenders and repeat offenders. The "governing body" could actually be motivated to give a crap. But probably not. *Edit And looking further into it, if it is a true endowment investment (which it would almost have to be at 20 million), I'm not sure they can throw 25% of the return at NIL. A lot to sort out. Oh, and Elon is suing OpenAI because they took his 38 million investment dollars as a non-profit and flipped into a for-profit now worth 86 billion. So...brakes pumped. For now.
  6. If you cap it schools will just go back to cheating. Ie not capped
  7. Too lazy to find the/an NIL-focused thread. But here's this. They're going to have to cap NIL roster spending.
  8. Today
  9. Got a feeling he'll be wearing No. 9 -- even if by accident. Manager: "Hey Clemens, you got a preference for your jersey number?" Sokolov: "Nein." Manager: "You got it!"
  10. Yesterday
  11. He’s 18 but likely super super raw for this year. So yes; Carr can earn his keep by finding a kid that is a big, athletic, and under the radar.
  12. Ryan Carr was hired for a reason and he's good. I think you can do more than hope in this case. He looks to be a "piece" at least, and looks at least as good as Bailey was and stronger.
  13. I like that contact around the rim doesn't seem to completely blow him up. For a kid who won't be counted on to play a ton yet, first glance is positive for sure.
  14. Until you see the foreign player on the court, always go by who has the better name. Which do you prefer: Clemens Sokolov or Vuk Lazerevic?
  15. Nebraska wins 5-0. After leading just 1-0 after 3, Nebraska scored 3 in its 4th and another in the 5th. In our 7th, Cooper walked and a Josie Bird double put runners on 2nd and 3rd with just 1 out. But Strader and Goins strikeouts ended our last hopes. We managed just 2 hits off Nebraska's ace.
  16. A longer highlight package from Mike. Obviously a long term play, but the 1st 3 things I look at with young project bigs are can he move his feet, can he fluidly change direction and does he fight the ball. In this kid’s case the answers look to be yes, yes and no. That’s a good jumping off point.
  17. I agree with all the question marks. But it’s the whole staff’s scout this time and you have to trust that they see something with the Lindsey/Mustaf/Harris combo the way they went after them. Jersey posted about it recently but others have too. It’s pretty wild we are poised to go from basically a team that shot some of the most 3’s and hardly any 2’s to a team with questionable 3 point shooting (even on low volume) that will probably live at the rim. If I’m being completely honest and it were any other team besides IU I’d probably say it reeks of an over-correction. But I’m perfectly happy to trust these guys one more year going into Y2. I’ll say that my optimistic disposition here is really helped along by Cig coming in and wining a National freaking Title in football. lol…
  18. Given that he can play on or off ball and is one of the best hand full of shooters in high school regardless of class would there is a better than decent chance that he makes that team.

  20. This smells like Drew forming a relationship with BeoBasket Agency. If im not mistaken, everyone in the NBA with a last name ending in kic, cic, vic and most of the ov's are clients or former clients. Maybe there was a flight to Belgrade after all. l I like this.
  21. Arizona added a 6’11” Pro league B big man today too. 11/9 on the same minutes. And being touted as a long range prospect. So that is another clear cut example of where this one stacks up.
  22. That was a first four game I think. Still a tournament game though. If my memory serves me, he led in the second half of his three losses. I was impressed with what he got out of last year's team. If he can be equally as impressive with this roster, we'll be pretty good. I'm having a hard time visualizing the offense right now though. Maybe something a little like this year's Wisconsin team?
  23. If this works out, get Coach an Adidas track suit. Run DDV!
  24. He really should have. And I think he realized too late but we had no BIG depth which handcuffed him. Hence the different strategy this time around. Not adding an extra capable big last season was a Crime against Humanity.
  25. Ohio State added a Foriegn big guy the same time we did. Who got the better player?
