WTH is this?!?!

The State of Florida is overrun by a fancy creature called the "Palmetto Bug".

The reason they are called Palmetto Bugs is because there are so many of them, if we called them by their actual name... "Cockroach", no one would ever visit Florida!

Ran into "palmetto" bugs at a rental once and the owner spent considerable time explaining to me they weren't cockroaches. I told him tomato vs tomato. Thing is a nasty cockroach.

My family became acquainted with these lovely creatures last summer on vacation. The owner of the house said "Oh those are just palmetto bugs. They're like beetles".

Yeah, not so much

I haven't seen another one so I'm hoping that thing making an appearance is an anomolie. It looks like a black widow minus the red markings.

Black Widow's are actually tiny. I always thought they were huge, but they are really small. We killed about 7 around my house last summer...
