Kinda sad to see how far Nebraska has fallen,,,,

Cautionary tale about absolutely idiotic coaching hires. Look at who the Nebraska coaches have been since Osborne retired and you get exhibit A for what NOT to do: Frank Solich, Bill Callahan, Bo Pelini and Mike Riley(!!!) Sheesh talk about doubling down on stupid.

There are a LOT parallels with IU basketball. Traditional powerhouse with extremely passionate fan-base that fell on hard times after their iconic coach left (due to completely different circumstances.)

I think the single biggest take away is do not settle for the easiest hire. The player favorite, long-time assistant is almost never the right choice.

Alabama already had the best overall team in the nation. Now they also have a QB who can play some ball. It’s over. 6th national championship in 10 years

Sadly, I think you are right. From what I've seen it will be a huge upset for Bama not to win it all. Especially since they don't even have to win their division/conference anymore. Even if Georgia or LSU manages to upset the Tide in the regular season or conference championship, they will get rewarded with having to play them again in the playoff. Barring an unimaginable melt-down Bama is going to be in the playoff. They have a golden ticket to get in because "everyone knows" they are one of the best 4 teams regardless of on-field results. It's happened at least 2x I can think of in the last several years.

Clemson football QB Kelly Bryant says he will transfer

Kelly Bryant started the past 18 games for Clemson. He will start his next game for another school.

On Sunday, coach Dabo Swinney informed Bryant that he was no longer the starting quarterback. On Tuesday, Bryant informed Swinney that he will transfer.

Under new NCAA redshirt guidelines, by leaving Clemson now, Bryant can salvage his final year of eligibility. He has not decided where he will spend it.

Good. It is overdue. Watch Clemson with Bryant vs Clemson with Lawrence running the offense. There was zero chance they win the national title with Bryant. Not saying they have a great chance with Lawrence, but going forward past just this year it was the right decision.

Alabama got in last year the way Ohio State did two years ago. The committee was consistent with that approach for both years. I still like the playoff much more than the BCS

Trevor Lawrence is the real deal. Swinney made the right choice. With how Alabama is with Tua, Clemson had to match it. Lawrence is much closer to Tua than is Bryant

I agree the playoff is better but it's also hard to reconcile a NC that didn't even win their own division. It does diminish the regular season and even Conf championships if losing doesn't mean anything. I like the playoff at four teams, but fully expect it to expand (ruining it) because everyone deserves a chance. :120:

The difference though is that when Ohio State wrongfully got in, they got demolished. Alabama showed they belonged

Alabama May have won, but they still didn’t belong. If you can’t win your own conference, let alone can’t win your own division, you shouldn’t have a chance to win the national title in CFB.

That’s silly even the best teams have an off day. Or a ref blows a call.

In CFB that’s what it comes down to. Just 1 loss can ruin your season. Look at Wisconsin. They 100% out of the playoff conversation because of just one loss. You have to be damn near perfect. Alabama didn’t deserve getting in. You can use 20/20 hindsight all you want. But that doesn’t disprove they shouldn’t have gotten in. Same with Cuse a couple years back in basketball. May have made the Final Four but never belonged in the tourney in the first place. They just stole someone else’s chance because the name on the jersey.

Who should’ve been in over Alabama?

So you are simultaneously complaining that the system is one way then saying too bad because the system is the opposite?

Ohio State only got in both times because of the name on their jersey. It's not right, but it's how college athletics work.

Ohio State deserved the first appearance. Totally different with the second

Wonder if the trend of getting more dynamic passers rather than dynamic athletes at QB will continue in college. Bama made the switch, Clemson made the switch, ND made the switch (albeit only one game so far), and Miami made the switch. Not saying the running QB will be gone forever, but teams seem to be realizing having a dynamic passer means more
