2027 4-star Kevin Savage III has committed to Purdue and Matt Painter. The 6-foot guard chose the Boilermakers over UCLA, Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Florida State amongst others. #27 in the @SCNext 100.

He’s really good. Painter is recruiting better than ever.  Bummer.

How is the question?   Their NIL is crap

Because they are going to emphasize basketball NIL vs football NIL relative to most schools.

That’s fair but not a long term viable strategy. Basketball just doesn’t bring in enough revenue. They will lose ground each season

Better to be good at something than to put a match to NIL money with a terrible football program I guess.

And Basketball four star recruits don’t cost all that much as long as you can afford them if/when they develop.

True. Still makes me wonder if a bigger program will come calling for painter and he listens.  I’m scared what he could do at Kentucky

I think in addition to this being right on, Painter has a good pitch to HS recruits. He can afford them. They eventually play.  They usually have great success at some point.  He rarely recruits over them in the transfer portal (or so it seems).

I think Hill will be an interesting case because he’s that rare Purdue high level recruit, that is definitely Ranked in potential over production thus far.  Everything I’ve heard on Savage has been great so far though.

I think as stronger NiL programs lean on the Transfer portal, teams like Purdue can up their standards a bit and grab guys that others overlook.
