When it comes to the rebuilds the one thing I am most thankful for is Mark Appel. If the Astros shock everyone for a second straight year they have Carlos Correa and Kris Bryant. Most people don't follow enough to realize they went under slot with Correa to get McCullers as well. Same as the Astros got unlucky with Appel sort of. He was far and away number 1. But Bryant hit more homers than over half of D1 that season at San Diego. The bat is the safer bet always. We got lucky for once.

Yeah, that sucks about Appel.  Hindsight is always 20-20.  Some pan out, some don't.  Think if the Colts had selected Leaf instead of Manning.  Think how drastically different the landscape of the NFL would be.  Sometimes you get lucky!  Appel had (maybe still has, time will tell) good stuff.  18 yr old kid throwing mid-90s w/a sick slider.  The Astros were in bad shape pitching-wise.  I agree, the bat is generally a safer bet.  But he has potential to be a high rotation guy, so hopefully next year he'll be tossed in that rotation.

Go Astros.  The Astros rotation is shaky at best after the #2 guy.  I won't be shocked if the Royals win game #2 and #3.  As long as the 'Stros keep hitting, though...man, they are crazy good.

I'm interested to see how Molina looks for the Cards. In my opinion, the Cubs have the advantage in this series only because of the Cardinals injury problems. I'm not going to underestimate a 100 win team, but John Lackey as a first game starter is rather underwhelming.

Can't get any better than Cubs-Cards match up, especially in the playoffs. Cardinals, take it to these barely out of puberty Cardinal wannabe's known as the Cubs!

1st time ever boob. It's going down!

Yeah to me they lost their Arrieta. We still have 1 game from him. They did win 100 in spite of the injuries. Lol I probably won't be on during the games to minimize frustrations.
