IU Hoosier41

IUFB Offer Letter

Recommended Posts

Saw this posted on Twitter by one of the recruits and thought I would share. I think the offer looks cool and all, but I guess I would have expected it to be more personalized.

I understand they are sending out a billion of these, but I feel like it would be so much more useful if it was personalized for each recruit and lists their recruiting coach instead of just General. Also listing something about the player would be nice.

Am I being ridiculous?

Maybe it comes after the verbal offer? All of the personalization comes in the form of the conversation, this letter is the legal side of it. Sort of like a job offer. A verbal offer is only good if you have the paper offer letter to back it up.

Speculating is all at this point. Rationale is sound anyway.

Honestly, that recruit either has an UNBELIEVABLE scanner, or IU emailed that offer letter...

Hutch - time to put your investigative journalist hat on!

If it was emailed that makes it feel even less personal doesn't it? That could easily get lost in a spam folder.

Then thank goodness my job offers don't get lost in my spam box too!  This is 2015.  I can imagine this going out in an email, again, if the conversation has already been had.  JMO.

If this is the first item that a recruit receives as his 'offer' (formal/informal, verbal/written), then I'm very embarrassed for our program.

Can you imagine how many ink cartridges they must go through printing all of those letters?

It appears to be a form letter that I'll bet the department has a professional do for them.  I can't imagine they are firing those off on their HP's.

On the flipside, commercial copiers/printers put out remarkably crisp and concise copies these days.

I guess this is true. I received my job offer via phone call, but it was followed up via email.

I really have no issue with the offer or how they send it, just find it sort of interesting!

That letter reminds me of all the generic "interest" letters coaches send out by the thousand. Hopefully this is just a follow up/formality email and the real thing includes the kid's name at the very least. Recruits like to feel special and the letter above wouldn't get the job done.

That's what I was thinking. Think about getting that letter in an email. "Cool thanks"

Or getting it in a FedEx Document Pak that you rip open and pull out an offer letter...

One is extra exciting, one is just meh. I'm 100% positive conversations happen before this and the offer is made in person or over the phone, but a little extra wow factor would be nice here.

When you are Indiana Football, you should be crossing ALL your T's and dotting all your I's with a bold faced pen. Then having someone else come back with a Sharpie to make sure it's done right.

Perhaps that's what's meant by suitable for framing.
