What depth chart would you like to see now?

I have to say I'm really not unhappy that Hanner is gone now that we have Max. With Hanner, you might get "Good Hanner" or "Bad Hanner," and he would have to prove to me that there had been a significant change in his consistency. I think Max will be far more consistent. With Holt, we always get max. effort, and I can't recall  game (even as a young freshman) where he was truly off his game. Ergo, I feel pretty confident we can hold our own when Bryant is on the bench.

Similarly, we had no idea if Davis was going to be a significant contributor, so that's off our worry list of a possible scholarship squandered.

Likewise, we don't have to worry about Hoetzel getting beat on defense, and the things on offense he added we have covered by others.

I am SO looking forward to next season.

I agree, and I like your optimism.  I said it all last year, Max Hoetzel was by far and away our worst defender.  I think he got beat baseline every game that he played.  You could tell that he had never really had to play top notch Defense in High School or AAU, and I'm not saying that he could not have improved it, but IU losing him was the least of my worries.  Something keeps telling me that when Crean uses his last scholarship this year, and I'm sure that he will, that he'll go after a wing player so we can have another option, especially if someone out of our 4 guards gets injured.

No one is expecting him to dominate, we honestly only need him to be around the level that Vonleh played at and I see Thomas as easily being able to do that for us. He fills a need. We don't need a dominant post presence. We need someone who can contribute their fair share, which is something we didn't have last season in the post. Bryant will be a defensive factor and be able to score on offense. We definitely don't need him to be a dominating big man cause we have all the offense we need with our guards. Bryant will be big upgrade over Perea and anything other post player we had last year and thats definitely all we need him for this upcoming year

I know what you are saying but I prefer a dominant player at every position if we are constantly dealing with turnover with the roster.

He also said, "but that could change overnight."  I assume that we'll pick up another guard to add to our depth. It's hard to imagine a Tom Crean team only has 4 scholarship guards on it.  I highly doubt that we bank the scholarship.

if we use our lineups right then we won't need to add another guard and will be 2 deep at PG and SG.

Starters
Yogi
Blackmon
Williams
Hartman
Bryant

Reserves
Johnson
Z
Holt
Morgan
Beilfeldt
OG

Like to have RJ come off the bench with Yogi being the only PG on the team also have Hartman start for floor spacing and giving Bryant room to work on the block.

I have no doubt we will use a 3 guard starting lineup. Crean can't resist. Only having 4 guards means that there may be times when CTC plays a 2 guard lineup with a shooter like Hartman in the game in place of JBJ or RoJo. I would rather see this than Hartman backing up Williams in CTC's version of the 4 spot. I would rather have Holt, Anunoby, back up Williams.  Bielfeldt can back up Bryant. I am not sure if Morgan will play a 4 or a 5. Maybe both if he shows he can .  Bielfeldt gives us a known product that will be the most ready to play from day 1.

Bielfeldt is a basketball player. Hanner was an athlete. Hanner is your man if you want to get a play on a top ten countdown. Bielfeldt is your guy if you want a basketball player that will play an all around game for 10 - 15 minutes per game. I would like to congratulate our staff on turning HMP and Davis into Bielfeldt and a shot at Thon Maker.

Or he could, (gasps) give the scholarship to a walk-on.

Likely, he holds it in the event that Thon(i.e. his handler) decides to play college ball for 1 1/2 years.

Bryant is simply a good player.   He's not "special" athletically; and he's 18 years old.    I've seen plenty of people on here and other sites touting him as the missing piece.  He's not.  He's got some ability, he fills an obvious need, but he alone is not going to fix an offense that doesn't move or a perimeter that can't defend.    No knock on Bryant, but we don't need a dominant post presence?    So you're okay getting our backsides kicked in by Purdue again?  You did notice the final four, right?  UK, Wisconsin, and Duke all had dominant post players.    Why don't we need one?

Im just saying our offense is not designed to have a dominating big man down low who we just feed and everyone else watches. You yourself were just talking about how Zeller ran the floor. That was Zeller's strength, he wasn't the typical "dominating big man". We have a guard and win centered offense and with a little more experience this year will be one of the top offenses in the nation again this year.
Its evident that you aren't understanding what Im saying and we aren't seeing eye to eye so lets just leave it at that

Its a perfect dream scenario to have a dominant player at every position but doesn't happen for the majority of schools out there. I think Bryant will be good. Vonleh was in no way dominating when he was here and if Bryant can do at least what Vonleh did here, we will be in good shape

Well he was a bit dominant on the boards. That team should have been way better than it was.

Vonleh was absolutely dominate as a rebounder. He gobbled up a very high percentage of his rebounding chances. Agreed, we should have been better that year.

Sheehey was not fit to be a star. So many other issues not worth mentioning but it was a wasted year.

just thinking of the players on it.. we should have been better. Not having a bunch of 3pt shooters isn't an excuse. UofL can't do it either but they win. Yogi, Will, Gordon, Troy, Vonleh, Hanner, Hollowell, Etherington. I think we should have started Yogi, Will, Troy, Vonleh and Luke to start out with... but that's just me. Play them 30 minutes a game and we would have been fine. Instead we went small and we sucked.

but that also brings up Zellers year where I thought we should have started Sheehey or Hollowell over Hulls and let Vic play the 2 spot. Instead we went small and it did hurt us having Jordyn at the 2 spot.

Remi probably should have played more at the two spot when we we playing physical teams.

I don't get why he transferred. Something happened there. He would have been a starter easily on that Vonleh team and it would have been nice to have him.
