IU vs Minny Post Game Thread

The crappy no call on Elleison on Troy too.  Yes, he was straight up but moved his body into a player that was in the air.

The off arm push off on pretty much every Hollins layup attempt.

The charge call where HMP was clearly moving.

Which is why I found it absolutely hysterical to see him whining to the official about Yogi doing the same thing.  I guess I've always been confused by that.  Pushing off is a foul.  Plus, the whole "jumping into the defender" to draw a foul?  Silly.

Kind of unbelievable. Not that he needs it but I am sure he is out to show everyone that he was snubbed the rest of this season.

Hope he wants to come back next year and prove it... Again. He has the potential to be Player of the Year next year with this team. He deserves that kind of consideration, especially if he comes back as a senior. If we have a good run in the tournament, and he plays like he has, he'll get some preseason buzz for next year.

As an aside, Dakich   Moday is really on a tear about non-Indiana resident students and for that matter non-Indiana players attending IU.

In particular blasting a forum sight I think called "Fan Boy" (?) about east coast players being a tremendous find in last few years.

Dakich goes on to say give me Tommy Coverdale, etc, etc. that wwent to the Final Four not just beat Kentucky!

one of the most fun games ive watched in a long time. Loved the hustle, as mentioned REBOUNDS! Besides the first few minutes in the first half, we played so well, im ready for Purdue, I want this game more than any other one left in the regular season, I absolutely cringe when I go out in town and see these shmucks with purdue gear on, they got us once this year, its time to pay them back with a huge slap in the mouth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does Dakich have any idea how much money non-residents bring to the school?

I can tell him first hand...

On average, I believe non-residents should also raise academic performance measurements for entering students, which is something the school likes to market, as it's more difficult to gain acceptance as a non-resident.

Same here, but I'm not convinced acceptance out of state is more difficult. I got in with some less than stellar grades and I know Indiana kids that didn't get in with higher test scores and GPA.

I think we are a decent rebounding team but when u are shooting the way IU did, you are erasing any chance for the opposing team to rack up board stats for the game. It's more to do with that. However, the offensive boards were impressive so I don't want to take anything away from the hustle either.

That was basically his point I guess as his premise is that it is money driven only and supportive otherwise to the Hoosier teams, etc.

lots of complaints about the officials on multiple platforms from fans of every team...

is it something to be concerned about, or just typical fan being a fan??

The refs need to control some of this physical play. I'm all for hard phyisical play, but they need to protect the shooter and thats why the no call on TW was so bad. The best way to improve scoring would be for the refs to start calling fouls that control defenses from restricting movement and protecting the shooter. Too many no calls and the refs last night were awful and MINNY got screwed a few times too.

I don't want the game going the way of the NFL though where you can't breathe in the general direction let alone actually play defense.  That would be unbearable to watch, scoring be damned.

I agree with that and they need to come up with a happy medium where they allow good defense and still allow freedom of movement. I want physicality, but sometimes the refs allow too much unneeded contact.

The refs miss some obvious ones, but right now there are also a LOT of ticky tack fouls they call that they really should let go.  There have been a bunch of times this season, even when calls go in our favor, that left me wondering why the officials called it.

That balance wouldn't be easy to find and blatant calls will always be missed, it's always been that way and will never change.  The whole human element and all that.  I already hate the newer rule changes because of how many silly fouls get called, I'm not sure I'd want it to go much, if any, further.

The off arm push off from Hollins was so blatant. The refs should be looking for that. If you look at the Minny Star Ledger picture over on another site, the picture there shows just how bad it was. Should have been an offensive foul called on Hollins!

I counted 3 that were obvious enough to be called. Hartman would have actually blocked his shot if Hollins wouldn't have used his off arm to create contact.

Absolutely. Minny must teach and practice that. A few years ago at Assembly Hall, I remember a Minny offensive player pushed off with his off arm against CWat and hit a big shot at the end of the game.

I guess my point would be don't call the ticky tack fouls, but call the blatant fouls where the offense player is bump and hindered to get to a spot or his shot off. My biggest issue is when the call some BS touch foul 30 feet from the basket and miss the obvious bump 4 ft from the basket on a drive. Yogi was getting bump around pretty good last night without many calls.

And yes Hollins arm bar was annoying....

I do agree a busy whistle kills the flow of the game.
