Anunoby and Morgan

Interesting, he seems like he would be a really good fit to come in and start if we don't get Bryant. Obviously we would still be undersized with him being 6'8 but he can spread the floor and is a better post defender than Hartman and probably a better rebounder due to his superior athleticism alone. Honestly I wouldn't feel too bad with Morgan starting.

Morgan isn't that athletic and by multiple accounts is very lazy

those of us who watched his streamed games.

Got it. Thanks.

I love the fact that Morgan is a high achiever. If we keep getting guys that are lazy like Watford and Blackmon apparently are, and now Juwan, I'll take it.

He's gonna be something with a development team like IU's.

I'm not saying he isn't good or won't be great at all. He played uninspired in the 2 games I watched. Made some tremendous plays. I actually think he'll be a really good one, but ANYONE who watched those games would have the same thoughts and concerns.

I'm excited about both, but Juwan is exactly the player this team needs. Although we had it with Devin...

He doesn't need to score; he knows how to play off of other good players. He's an intelligent individual. He'll be a good backline of the defense in time. Great job by the staff to identify these two guys.

The "wing" thing is funny but what it really is... Basketball players. Many simply happen to be 6'5-6'9" vbg

This could get very fun. Length, athleticism, players who see... the next step for this program has to be becoming known for its aggressiveness on defense as it is for its offensive assault.

have you seen Morgan play? By your comments it doesn't seem like you have. He might be built like DD but he is not the scrappy, hard nosed defensive player DD is. Very Blackmonesque on the defensive side. He really needs to improve in this area to help us

I have; player comparisons are kind of ridiculous. I didn't mean to compare Juwan to Devin, but they both attack the glass. They're athletic. They don't need the ball to impact our play.  Devin struggled to figure out the defensive end last year; don't think Morgan will have as many issues grasping things. He has to add weight first and foremost. I personally think Morgan is going to be in contention to start if Bryant doesn't come here. He is a smart player that can fit in to this group that we have forming.

Like all freshmen (besides Zeller/Ferrell I suppose) they have something else coming in going from AAU/HS to the Big Ten. Obviously there are going to be doubts with kids of this age. As an aside, all the pessimism kills me; either a kid's gonna get it or he's not. It's  not a conspiracy that Crean is only recruiting talented offensive players and defense isn't a priority. I've seen that general tone/sentiment in some statements of late, by more than one. I just don't buy it.

Saying there's not much to look forward to is a weightless statement, too. We know these two 2015 guys inside and out... and we have no one committed in any other class. Kind of obvious there's nothing to look forward to. How about enjoy the (hopefully) two year proposition of Yogi Ferrell, James Blackmon, and Troy Williams? Isn't that kind of a dream for some? Two of the better guards to ever come out of the state... Crean has them as his starting backcourt. But all we can talk about is Gary Harris, Syracuse, disconnects, and scorned managers? For what? Just a few thoughts for the "Indiana won't be Indiana till Indiana's Indiana in Indiana (feat. Brad Stevens)" crowd. (tic)

i don't know where scorned managers and all the rest fit in with my comment that Morgan is lazy. Lazy does not translate to helping us on the inside and starting for that matter. He is not a center and doesn't play good D. Not sure about Syracuse, scorned managers etc or where that fits into anything related to Morgan

Wasn't singling you out there. Kind of an aside.

Personally, I'll take my chances with Crean's eval versus a few streamed games. Not knocking you or anyone's knowledge. I just think "lazy" gets thrown around without much definition. Some players are just cool; interestingly, I've consistently heard Morgan referred to as one of the best hustle guys around.

I wouldn't say a person that achieves at the level of Morgan is lazy; especially without knowing the kid. I know it helps the narrative that Crean brings in kids who don't care, but it's just BS. And BS can be made up without limit and without consequence. There isn't an explanation for everything........

he needs weight, but he can definitely play the 5 here. He's pretty much what we need at the 5 as he is not a guy that needs the ball fed to him on the block. Like it or not, that kind of play just isn't coming back. Bigs have to space the floor and protect the rim. If people want to watch post guys back people down, watch Purdue.

I think both Morgan and Anunoby both suffer a bit because they play lesser competition in their high school seasons. I doubt Crean and the staff would be bringing in Morgan if he was considered "lazy". Not too many "lazy" players get named "Most Improved Player" in the EYBL (top level AAU summer league). Player lesser level talent sometimes makes it too easy to take a play or two off. We've even seen it here at IU when IU plays cupcakes

Also, I believe that this lazy term is in relation to his speed and hustle on the court. And even if he was lazy, i would fully expect a kid that smart and talented to buy into our system and do whatever possible to make it work. I would highly doubt he will be sluggish in transition when Crean and the staff are pushing for that so hard.
