iufbfan19 Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 This could be a really stupid thought but do you guys think there could be a quarterback controversy between sudfeld and diamont next year? I know right now sudfeld is a lot better but I'm also amazed at the pace diamont is improving. If he keeps it up we won't even miss tommy Stevens. I know realistically diamont will probably be redshirted next year and sudfeld will be the undisputed starter but it's just a thought. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote
Crimson and Cream Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Obviously a lot can change in a year, but Diamont isn't ready now and he would have to play awfully good to unseat a 5th year senior who has had a solid career here. I'm not saying hand it to Sud, but I would be shocked if he isn't the starter next year. My guess is we bring in another QB, whether that be a Juco or a freshman, that will compete with Sud and allow Diamont to get a redshirt year in and prepare to take over (or attempt to take over) when Sud leaves. To be honest, I'm more concerned with our receiving core next year than our QB situation. Quote
CampHoosier Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Is Diamont really our future at QB? I mean, he wasn't even listed on the depth chart at the beginning of the season Quote
Crimson and Cream Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Camp, I believe that was because they planned on using this as a redshirt year for him. Hovadipo and HoosierReb01 2 Quote
CampHoosier Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Even so, after watching him, do you see Diamont actually succeeding Sudfeld? Even with the situation he was thrown in, he looked absolutely terrible. If it wasn't for Coleman, we may never have gotten points. In any game Crimson and Cream 1 Quote

In any game This isn't me saying he's better than Sudfeld, but I'm definitey seeing some improvement. MSU was obviously awful. The next game...Michigan?...was just as awful. Then he stepped it up a little bit. Threw some pretty balls in the last few games. Looked somewhat confident. Really, without some (a lot) of drops recently, we might have beaten Penn State and Rutgers. Still, I say redshirt him next year, give Sudfeld the reins with someone competent behind him then see where Zander is in year 3. Napleshoosier, Naturalhoosier and Crimson and Cream 3 Quote
HoosierReb01 Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I'm sure there will be a QB battle next year, but I don't expect Diamont to be a big part of it. Would expect him to get the red shirt next year. mamasa 1 Quote

Crimson and Cream Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 It's hard to judge any QB this year based on how poorly our receivers have played. Quote
