Then does a blow by and says “I’ll remember this ****” - that to me is the instigation. Gard grabbing his arm is step 2. Then after an exchange you see Gard taking steps backward away from Howard and is a good 10 feet away from Howard. Howard then, being held back by his own players throws a punch over their body and strikes the face of the UW assistant. Then UM players start throwing punches the Gard v Howard situation was diffused, they were separated, nothing severe taking place. Then Howard takes the situation from a 5 to a 10 for no reason I've posted as much. They are both in the wrong and both should face suspensions proportionate to their actions. I believe some are just dismissing Gard's physical action. That's what I have been stating. Call timeouts, cuss, fly the bird, etc. don't elevate it to physical confrontation. It's really that simple. If they would have stood there calling each other names who cares? go iu bb and IU - Kaulie 2 Quote
HoosierInParadise Posted February 21, 2022 Posted February 21, 2022 Agree…posts have been unhidden. I think we are trying to not let things escalate so that no one throws any ill advised punches on this board. So, while those posts are unhidden, let’s remember that this is the college basketball thread and keep any posts about the Michigan Wisconsin incident related to what happened during their college basketball game. ThanksThank you and understood. I want it to be about basketball as well which is why I said what I said in this post.Sent from my SM-F926U1 using BtownBanners mobile app Stuhoo 1 Quote

You still had the best post I’ve read about this topic. Something about Wisconsin as usual tiptoeing all over the line, and Juwan Howard leaping over it. hoosierbgh and WayneFleekHoosier 2 Quote

It's so typical of society these days. The big black coach is mean and has anger issues. The white coach was kind and wanted to talk to the other coach. While this certainly happens in society, my initial reaction was to the original video. In that video it appears that Howard was the aggressor who went up to Gard and started throwing hands. Then the second video angle showed a different scenario. In it, Howard mouths off while trying to walk away from Gard. Gard clearly turned the altercation into a physical one. For me this is more of an example of getting all the facts before jumping to conclusions rather than the skin color of the people involved. Suspend them both. Chris007 Posted February 21, 2022 Posted February 21, 2022 I know it's not the same but Few got a DUI and a one-game suspension. People are calling for Howard to be fired. As I said I know it is an apple to oranges comparison. IU - Kaulie 1 Quote

Your up 15 who cares if they're pressing, their not going to score 15 in 15 seconds. Teach the walk-ons how to break the press in the next 5 minutes of practice. If one coaches move was bush league then so was Howard’s for pressing down 15 with 15 sec to play your not going to makeup 15 pts in 15 sec. Teach your starters sometimes you get beat on the road. Once the other coach decided the game wasn’t over yet then the other coach should be allowed to coach the same way and in that instant Howard chose to extend the game so Gard called timeout to reset the 10 sec count. Howard can’t have it both ways. Either call your team off and let them dribble it out or continue coaching and don’t worry about the other coach coaching his team taco corp, IUc2016, hoosierdogg and 4 others 5 2 Quote

HoosierAloha Posted February 21, 2022 Posted February 21, 2022 I don't know if race played into it. It's difficult to know what someone is thinking with regard to race. I have little doubt Gard knew he had Howard in the wrong (right) state of mind and would poke. That doesn't excuse Howard's actions after they were separated. Watch what Gard did, listen to him explain it, and then go back and watch it again. They don't line up. IU - Kaulie and Chris007 2 Quote

HoosierAloha Posted February 21, 2022 Posted February 21, 2022 You can't control what the other coach or team is doing with time outs and bench warmers. You can control your team and how you react. If you want to speak your mind while walking through the handshake line then do so. None of that gives you the right to lay your hands on anyone. Those that did (Gard, Howard, UM and Wiscy players should all receive suspensions) We learn this **** in kindergarten. go iu bb, Uspshoosier, bigrod and 4 others 7 Quote
