Another pretty full batch of games this morning/afternoon.

Love this time of year when there are hoops on throughout the day. Enjoy watching while I work.

FAU vs. Drake @ Charleston Classic, 11:30 a.m., ESPN2
Middle Tennessee vs. South Florida @ Myrtle Beach, 2 p.m. ESPN2
Miami (Fla.) vs. Oklahoma State @ Charleston, 2 p.m. ESPNU
Pittsburgh vs. LSU @ Greenbrier Tip-Off, 2:30 p.m., CBS Sports Network
Wisconsin vs. Central Florida @ Greenbrier, 5 p.m. CBS Sports Network
Bradley vs. Wright State @ Myrtle Beach, 5 p.m., ESPNU
Seton Hall vs. Vanderbilt @ Charleston, 5 p.m., ESPN2
Campbell @ Ohio State, 6 p.m., BTN

P.S. -- only listed early games. Obviously, there are bunch more at night. And only listed the "free TV" games. ESPN+ has a few more throughout the day. There are other morning/afternoon games as well that are not televised or streaming.

Can’t lie, this made me feel better. Watched their game with Miami and they had maybe 4 trigger actions and then everything was just different. Couldn’t figure out what they were doing at all. It’s a cool way to play when you’ve played a bunch of ball together, but they’re gonna have some stretches where they look bad.

it were simple Pitino discovering a new style of basketball that worked before others did, then his NBA run would have been a success.

Not really. NBA is horribly run league and he joined at a time when the NBA had rules set up against shooting from outside or at least players that did.

His failure in the NBA is almost entirely related to his defensive philosophy though, which is just untenable at the NBA level.

He’s not gods gift to coaching. I wouldn’t particularly emulate his style. But he was way ahead of the curve in implementing the 3 point line successfully. I don’t think Knight gets enough credit either for what he did with Alford in that regard. But as far as a whole team tactic Pitino was one of the first to really adopt it whole sale at a high level.

The pros almost always lag the amateur level in xs and os innovation in basketball. Knight would’ve failed in the NBA too and it would’ve had nothing to do with his tactical and strategic brilliance.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head with regard to the future of motion and motion-like offenses. I hope he succeeds there with that style. They’ve got the money. They should give it to him.

I can see no way it works turning the roster over every year or two.

Wow. Disappointing news. Honestly, would not be shocked at all to learn of a darker element at play here. He is from Camden, a VERY tough area with a lot of organized crime. Always struck me as a nice kid in interviews, but you never really know someone based off just that. Sad, had potential as a player, but this is a career ruiner if true.

Wisky doing a pretty good number on UCF. Up 21with 6 mins left. Kudos to Gard for a hell of a rebuild there. This is a miles better team than last year.
Side note: kind of shocking to see Dior Johnson getting minutes for UCF, or actually playing in a college game at all. If you don’t know that kid’s backstory, Google him. Between high schools and colleges has been tied to more schools than any kid I can think of. Hopefully this will be a stable situation for him.

Louisville up 14 on Wintrop, 69-55, with about 4 minutes left.

Louisville probably shoots more threes than any team -- through three games, 110 of their 185 shots have been three points, so almost 37 three pointers per game.  That said....they are only 33 of 110 (30%).  Tonight with 4 minutes left against Wintrop, they are 7 of 25 from three (24 of 51 overall).  So that's 40 of 135 from three for the year (30%).  They've blown out two lesser teams, gotten stomped by Tennessee, and are going to end up tonight with about a 10-15 point win against Wintrop.
