They virtually lost all their good players to the draft or graduation except Trimble.

Got ya. I would argue Dodd, nickens and big guy that has been hurt were back from last year. Trimble not a bad piece to have coming back to go along with a good recruiting class no? Jackson, huerter, and Cowan have all played above their rankings from what I've seen. Addition by subtraction. They might have lost all their good players but from watching this year's team from last it seems to me that their chemistry is way better

Is that recruiting class that Groce somehow put together with his back to the wall going to be enough to overcome 4 straight years of no NCAA tourney? Getting absolutely throttled at home by Wisconsin.

I doubt it. Someone has to coach the young guys and they lose key older guys (Hill, Finke, Abrams). I could see them being worse than this year.

That pretty much makes my point. They were good last year. Lost most of their vital pieces sans (Trimble/Dodd) had a pretty good recruiting class and are still in the running at the top of the B1G.

It's pretty impressive. They aren't nearly as good as their W/L in my mind though.

How many coaching openings could there be in the offseason?

IU?
Illinois?
Ohio state?
Rutgers?
Nebraska?

Not Nebraska or Minnesota IMO. Illinois seems reasonable. Indiana-I hope. Ohio State, I can't see them doing that to Matta. Has some good future recruits lined up. This was a "rebuilding" type year after he dumped a quarter of the team. Rutgers, eh, not yet. It won't matter.

I added Ohio state because I could see Matta seeking a fresh start. Ohio State just seems like a weird program right now.

From where they were projected last year they actually under achieved and this year so far they have over achieved

Yeah, his recruiting has really dipped, compared to recent history. Probably tired of the BS.

I'm glad. They dominated IU for a LONG stretch.

Groce seemed to be behind the recruiting success. He can recruit just not coach. Maybe Matta can replace whoever we get to come coach us

Just throwing some out there but could be busy offseason.

Did Rutgers just hire Steve Piekel (sp?)
I would say IU and UI are possibilities but everyone else is probably safe. I sw a tweet where some Michigan fans are unhappy with Beilien.

You can't make this up…after scoring with 1:41 left in the first half, Illinois gave up 5 offensive rebounds and Wisconsin scored to end the half…they missed a shot with 1:42 left in the game, and Wisconsin got 3 offensive rebounds and ran out the clock.
