Tom Crean Radio Show - 11/3/14 Live Updates

Holt got in trouble once and has apparently been suspended four games.

I was referring to the student athlete bill of rights' take on failed drug tests. No clue on getting an underage drinking ticket or whatever Holt got.

Of course. Not at all surprised.

Way to drop the hammer coach, maybe time you'll really go hard and make them stand in the corner. If you stick around that long.

So, they've basically been suspended two games (and those are two relatively meaningless games -- we're not even conference season), but Crean is making it sound like he's being all big and bad because it's technically a four-game suspension when the NCAA says that Robinson and Williams are supposed to be suspended for three.  Way to exploit the loophole, Crean.  Of course, no game suspensions announced for Yogi after his arrest.

Crean was VERY precise on his comments on this.  He said he wasn't aware of the ESPN report and hadn't read it.  That's all he's saying on that.

Yes and he announced without a question on it the suspensions of Troy and Stan at the beginning of the show.  He was in no way saying he didn't know about the suspensions.

I was wondering the same like yogi got arrested so why isn't he punished I don't care it was only one time offense, he's not special

Because NONE of them got suspended for a 1 time offense. Yogi's offense was after last season was over, as was Stan's, not in the current school; year. But Stan and troy also, apparently, now have 2 failed drug tests.

And as for Emmitt, drinking at 18 and driving... is worse than trying to get into a bar at 18.

And maybe that's the problem.  Apparently you can do whatever you want and disgrace the program however you see fit as long as you do it between the end of the NCAA tournament and the start of the next school year.  I can also agree that what Holt did was worse than what Yogi did, but that doesn't mean that Yogi doesn't also deserve some time of punishment involving playing time.  It's not like you can only punish one player and you have to choose between the two of them.

Can I also just emphasize for those reading this thread that Stan Robinson now has two failed drug tests and one arrest for minor consumption within one year (with the second drug test apparently coming less than six weeks after his arrest) and his punishment from the program is that he has to sit for two regular-season (but still pre-conference) basketball games?  Really???

If Crean really wanted to punish Troy and stan the. He should have made them stay home on the Canada trip. Having them suspended doesn't make any sense once the season starts. Take away something they REALLY want to do and participate in.

So they wanted to participate in the Canada trip more than play during the season? I don't follow that logic

I'm curious when he found out they failed and why it was released tonight of all nights at the same time he was going on a live broadcast. The timing is UNCANNY.

From what Ive read they failed the tests in June and they were going to release the info here in a few days but the info was leaked to ESPN

Jeff Goodman from ESPN broke it tonight from a source. Crean and IU DIDNT want this to come out tonight. Guaranteed.

Goodman reported it at 5:45 PM. ITH officially clarified multiple drug tests at 6 PM. Crean walked into Holiday Inn at 6:05 PM. Goodman clarifies multiple drug test fails around 6:15 PM right before phone calls begin.

Just interesting timing.

41, Crean said on the show they decided to release this tonight, do you have info to contrary or are you speculating

Very interesting question, Fleek. Are you suggesting that IU is distancing itself from Crean?

just positing a "what if" scenario based on the odd timing and swirling speculation. Glass has to defend Crean currently but in all likelihood due diligence is being performed by those in proper positions to see what our options are.
