I still think the Pacers are going to be pretty bad record-wise, but I'm starting to wonder if they're going to talent themselves out of the high lottery. Maybe I'm confusing them being fun to watch with them actually having a shot at winning games. The depth is pretty bad, but that starting 5 (if relatively healthy) has no business getting a shot at the 1-4 lottery balls, imo, unless Rick really buys in on the tank like he did the last month of last season. Partially because it's a pretty interesting 5 and partially because the teams also fighting for those spots are in much worse shape.

I seriously questioned if an 88yo owner would sign off on a full Hinkie. But this team is going to be so bad defensively that 22-25 wins seems about right. Man, if they deal Turner they are going to be a sieve. But, ya know what solves that? A 7’4” dude who blocks everything. Wonder if they can find one of those somewhere?

Everyone get on the Math hype train! 12 free throw attempts last night. Lets ******* go man

I find it ridiculous he's not starting but I guess they have a plan. If im Rick, Mathurin, Duarte, Smith, Haliburton, Jackson are getting a ton of minutes. Your experience, tank for Victor.

Squeezing every bit of trade value out of Buddy maybe? I don’t love it either. I’d like to move off him and Myles if that’s the plan (and I don’t see why it wouldn’t be) before Christmas and let the young guys learn/tank. Post-deadline only gives you around 2 months to do that.

And under no circumstances should we beat the Cavs. We need that pick to convey.

He has to start at some point. Gotta feel like he is gonna force it to happen. And I get it, dude will have some off games and growing pains. But, what we're seeing is so exciting rn. What we're seeing him do at a high level was suppose to be something he wasn't good at, puttomg the ball on the court and creating.

I do wonder if he forces his way into the starting lineup before a Buddy trade who goes to the bench. I think Buddy fits a bit better next to Hali and Math. But not like Duarts is a horrible fit either

It may only be game 1 of the season, but it’s gonna take something pretty special to top the pleasure of watching James Harden shamelessly showboat and then air out a 3.

Ummm... Harden went 9-14 fg, 5-9 three, 12-12ft, 8 r, 7 asst last night.

With terrible defense I am pretty sure tho.    :)

Agreed. One of the best pure athletes to ever play the game. It’s really unfortunate his game above the shoulders couldn’t match it.

I have all year to watch the Pacers tank, so I’m taking advantage of my League Pass free preview to watch Pistons Magic tonight. I did a double take seeing the Magic actually have Caleb Houstan on the floor. I thought they’d actually try to start winning games this year.

Stuff to like, stuff to not like. Tyrese is really freaking good. Math was mostly up and down, but man the flashes are so exciting. I liked the minutes we got from IJax, Smith was basically unplayable until the fourth, if he isn't scoring his value is so low. Duarte man, guy basically didn't exist before getting hit in the face, I liked Nesmith, but lol he is the exact opposite of Smith. I liked everything he did, but he has to score more,

What needed to happen did for the most part. Minutes for the young guys, some exciting plays and a loss. The only thing I would have changed would be Nembhard getting McConnells minutes. Right now, other than maybe trying to hold up what teeny tiny bit of trade value he has, there isn't a reason for McConnell to see the floor. He needs to be Jack Tuttle.
