Women salvage a 3-2 win in dramatic fashion for their last home game of the season.  Game was scoreless after 10 innings.  Illinois scored 2 in the top of the 11th.  In the bottom of the 11th, we loaded the bases and Ford hit one to the wall over the head of the centerfielder driving in all 3 base runners for the win.  Johnson pitched into the 11th scattering 10 hits but not allowing any runs until the 11th as the Illini left 10 runners on base in the game.  We only had 5 hits in the game but Ford got the important one.  Today's win moves our season record to (26-19) (9-11) and the regular season will end next weekend on the road at Nebraska.

Another disappointing season. The new coach started out with a lot of fanfare but seems to have underachieved.

Not at all.

I am as critical as anybody usually but Stanton has made softball very competitive every year she has been here. They have not been elite but they are a very competitive team in the Big Ten now. Before she got here they were a bottom feeder in the conference.

Don't get expectations out of whack. As long as team continues to be competitive and compete in the middle of the conference as they are since she has been here that is all anyone can reasonably asked for softball and anything else is a bonus.

I don't think mediocrity should ever be anyone's goal.
