Dante Exum says he would have been a Hoosier in college

Recommended Posts

And if a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his ass when he hopped.

I'd rather think about those who DID choose to be Hoosiers than imagine what ifs.

Yeah, 'if' is an awfully big word.

If Larry Bird would've stayed we'd probably have another banner in the rafters.

If Scott May didn't get hurt we would have.

If Alan Henderson didn't get hurt we probably have another.

If I was rich and in better shape I might have chance with Emma Watson (I'd even settle for Emma Roberts).

The 'if' game can go on forever.

Add if we had Gary Harris instead of Jeremy Hollowell we may have another to your list

Still fun to think about.  Not like these comments are regrets or anything. But it's very notable, and I think a really positive mark on our program, that a potential top 5 NBA draft prospect would have chosen IU.  If anything, an offseason full of it's fair share of bad news doesn't sting as much thinking that we are a program that is capable of landing guys like Exum.

I hope that the TV commentators on ESPN during the draft say something about him most likely coming to IU, it would look really good for the program.  Couple that up with our dude Vonleh in possible top 8 of the draft, and IU might be mentioned a good amount!  It's good for recruiting to associate IU's program with the NBA in about any sense, and the draft is watched by a lot of young basketball players.

I care about "What ifs".  I think it allows a good/different perspective on where we're at now with recruiting and progress on the court.  It's an interesting thought and people have comments about it.

Unrealistic? -  yes

do I care?   -   no

speculation is fun

I think the point is why come in here and be so negative about it. You don't have to look at the thread, yet you came here to post something that brought nothing to the table. If people want to talk "what ifs" then let them, it isn't hurting you them doing it

I think that if he does wind up being an NBA star and he comes to Midnight Madness or is seen sitting sidelines at IU games, it can only help recruiting.  I don't see a downside to his "committment" at all.
