(2014) C Jeremiah April to IU

Recommended Posts

What were Peter Jurkins stats his senior year? Not dissing this kid, just curious.

You make a valid point. Stats are nice but they don't tell the whole story. Great stats can mean great player...or not; merely 'good' stats can mean great player... or not.

However, ya' can't teach 7'0", athletic, high-motor, and smart!  Hopefully that's what we've just gotten.

I'm just wondering what his stats were, not making any conclusions or comparisons until the season starts.
Welcome aboard Jeremiah!!! Hope to watch you progress here at IU.

He seems pretty heavy footed, but hope Je'Nay can work his magic a little. Best of luck to Jeremiah!
I'm going with the "diamond in the rough" view on this one!

"One of April's teammates at Westwind is 6-foot-11 California commit Kingsley Okoroh and the competition in practices and workouts has helped in his development.

April had games of 26 points against Midland Junior College and 28 points against Pima Junior College this season. He finished the season with averages of 19 points and 11 rebounds per game."

14.8 ppg and 8.1 rpg. Didn't list blocks. Peter's biggest issue is his health though. Peter also doesn't seem to have a really high motor, hope this kid does.

Well to be fair being healthy enough to step on the court would be an upgrade over Jurkin's first two years. So hopefully we get that

I just don't get how he has been hurt for damn near 3 years straight...

Well he is tall, which usually comes with side affects. Their lower halves don't really hold up that well, there have been a number of guys around his size who have had their careers cut short by lower body issues

14 and 10 with 3 blocks per game.  Peter had some serious foot injuries starting his sophomore year if I remember correctly.  He really didn't play much until his senior season.  Even then it was limited.  When he committed he was thought of as a very high potential player.  Possibly as high as Hanner at one point during his Soph season.  Injuries and not being able to be on the court hurt him.  An international player trying to get better is hard when you cannot get on the court.  Here is hoping the year of Prep school made the difference in this kid's future.
