When are the NIT participants announced?

What does submitted for a home NIT game even mean? I was under the impression the lower seed got the Home Court advantage.... not saying we won't be but I could easily see us being a 5 which would mean no home game.... How do you just request a home game?

I'd guess it's just a way of letting them know that you can host because the building isn't booked for something else and you can get the staff ready in time.

Anyway, NIT games are not typical home games. The host school doesn't get all the tickets. Season ticket holders who want to attend will typically have their seats changed. Fewer students can attend. And, there is the spring break issue already mentioned. Compared to other home games, it is a fairly dead atmosphere. But, hosting brings in some money for the school, so it is worth it.

garsh....I really wish we didn't have to even CARE to ask when the NIT drawings are. I get upset thinking about it...

Regardless of what happens, if we get in (we should) I want to win the thing and I will watch every game beginning to end. Let's not be choosy about getting to watch IU basketball because you'll be complaining and wishing it was next season by mid-April.

According to latest NIT Bracketology we will not be getting in.... I have never followed NIT bracketology before so I don't know how accurate this guy is (I know Lunardi is proven pretty accurate at NCAA)....

 

I am going to watch IU no matter what it is they are playing in.... Hopefully it is the NIT, and hopefully we pick it up and win it....

 

What are the chances we miss that too? Does that change anybody's opinion of the season?

The one I'm looking at was updated yesterday and has IU as a 6 seed possibly opening up at Wisconsin Green Bay

It is what it is at this point, and I want the Hoosiers to come out aggressive and competitive and win the whole thing. I have no problem hanging another NIT banner.

IU has talent and athleticism but that doesn't mean anything if they are not somewhat balanced. It makes their offense one dimensional (running blindly at the rim, one guy dribbles-4 guys watch), and I think all of the potential I see at IU for next year lie in the three freshman shooters. If they are good, IU will be a tough out.

Today I've seen us in and out of the NIT in different projections. I've been mad about people saying we should reject an NIT invite, but if we do miss the NIT, I REALLY hope we don't go to the CBI. I think we would go, but ugh, that makes a bad season look truly terrible. Edit: This totally goes against my last post in this thread, but I couldn't stand seeing us in the CBI. Let's face it, this team wouldn't even make it to the CBI title.  This team has a bad habit of playing to the level of it's opponent, so we'd likely be looking at an early exit.

Was just talking about the hypothetical in the post I responded too. IU would turn down CBI (Crean already has once). Also, we'd for sure be an early exit.

I know I really enjoyed watching the NIT when Texas Tech was in it. If they have the right mind set & play aggressively, it will be fun IMO. And that's why we watch, right?

Also, watching some of the other conference tourney games, the B1G just looks so much better. In particular, I watched the Baylor/TCU game & both teams looked pitiful. Think IU has a chance to do well. Call me crazy if you want IDC.
