Rapid Reaction IU vs Nebraska

Recommended Posts

We deserved to lose that game.  Point blank we will need to go to the finals at least to make the tournament.  That isn't going to happen.  All of the credit in the world goes to Nebraska.  This was sort of like OSU coming to our court on senior night last year.  We got punched in the mouth, and struggled to respond.  No way around it.  This loss sucks, because we all know what it probably means.

As a team we just could not get over the hump today.  When we got back in it after being down 10+, I thought for sure we were winning.  We never took the lead.  Such a heartbreaking loss on senior night.  For Crean, this fly-by hurt more than others.  I am sure of that.  Shots weren't falling for Yogi or Will.  Really shots weren't falling for anyone not named Troy Williams.  So proud for that kid.  He had himself a confidence building game.  Essentially, there is nothing I can say about the team aspect.  Every major stat was close.  This game came down to whose shots fell and ours didn't.

Individually, I feel bad for Will and Yogi.  We can talk until we are blue in the face about what went wrong.  What I know is those two kids care and this has to hurt them more than anyone.  See, we are fans.  We have next year.  Those two kids will never get this year back.  We as fans will look at it as a disappointing year as they will.  They can't take this year back.  They can't have a do-over.  We essentially have one by watching the tip-off next year.  Will that make anyone feel better?  Nope.  But, lets keep in perspective who is actually affected by this.  Back to this game, players had good games.  I am going to single out two in particular.  Troy Williams and Devin Davis.  Devin gave us energy without Noah in there.  He ended up with 7 points and 3 boards.  Yes players had better stats, but we needed what he provided.  Same as Troy.  Dude brought it today.  18 and 6 today, while being all over the court.  Kid has a chance to be a good one.

Conclusion?  As I sit behind this keyboard, I feel like this season is over.  I know we get to look forward to the NIT.  I will cheer IU as much then, as I do now.  It is just not something I can personally get up for as much as the tournament.  I know it will do the young kids good to get extra practice.  I am really concerned Noah had to sit again.  Not that we had the ability before to overcome his injury, but this is starting to hurt.  Lets see what wild ride Saturday brings.

Honestly, MDN, I don't think we'd make the tournament just going to the BTT finals.  We have to win the thing, no other way IMO.

Agreed. I think the only way we could have gotten in without winning the BTT would have been to beat Neb and Mich and get to at least the semis of the BTT. That's now out of the question.

I think we win this game if we had Noah on the court.....Troy, great confidence builder.  Devin looked like a man out there.  Seemed like we had alot of balls going off the front of the rim tonight.  Not shot hard enough...Anybody else notice that?   We played real hard and just didn't get there.

Lets go take the Tourney and go dancing....

Definetly missed Noah on the boards tonight. We missed those second chance points off the offensive rebound. Noah is an excellent rebounder.

If shots would go in, IU wins,   Been the story all season. The thing is, it is not hard to fix, I think that Will, and Yogi will shoot the lights out starting with Michigan, and the shooting barrage is going to flow right into the BIG tourney.   Lets Go HOOSIERS.     NEVER GIVE UP !
