No where did I say he should only be suspended and nothing else. That makes absolutely no sense and I don't get where you pulled that from.

If he's still being punished "behind the scenes" then he should be punished on all fronts. Telling someone not to do something then letting them still get some of the perks (suiting up and playing) is completely backwards and contradicting.

I didn't say that you said he should be suspended and nothing else.... I said (or at least meant) that just because he got to lace em up and play that doesn't mean his punishment is over.

When I said "He doesn't get a lot of minutes anyway so if your only form of punishment is suspended is that really a punishment I ask?" I didn't mean your as in Dalton's only idea of punishment... I meant if Hanner's only punishment.

I simply disagree with the rest though... being punished isn't the same across all fronts... as you serve your punishment it changes, it has different levels, it means something different.... IU is not the court of law but the punishment can be thought of in the same process.... He spent time in Jail... does that mean his legal punishment is over? No, but he doesn't have to stay in jail while facing the rest of the punishment. He was suspended for 2 games, then he was reinstated... does that mean Crean or IU is done with his punishment, no but they don't have to keep him suspended for the rest of it.

All I was trying to say.

Here is my simple minded opinion the way this was handled is a complete joke and is the most embarrassing thing crean has done since he has been here. I also agree with Dan u cant say he has done everything we've asked of him in eleven days. In my opinion this makes creans season look genius compared to how he handled this and for the first time I question his integrity as r coach never mind his crazy sub patterns this is way worse lol

Sent from my SCH-I535 using BtownBanners mobile app

Then I took what you said the wrong way. My bad on that.

To me if he's still getting in trouble whether it be by the university, law, or team then he should t play. That's just my view, to me it seems like they're trying to punish him but at the same time they aren't. Inevitably the thing all these kids want to do is play ball so if you're trying to punish them yet still allowing them to do what they want most just doesn't make sense.

Does anybody else wonder what jh did now I mean he sat longer than hanner did for dui. I just was thinking at least his wasn't right after losing to Penn st at home before purdue I mean I think hanner had a lack of focus but what do I know

Sent from my SCH-I535 using BtownBanners mobile app

I don't think Jeremy did anything worse than what hanner did or we would have seen a police report.

Regarding Jeremy, I'm still not sure what I truly believe. I felt like the "lack of focus" talk was a codeword for something other than play on the court but of course I'm open to being wrong on that account. Honestly I was very surprised that Hanner was back on the court so soon. I'm just not sure I interpet it the same way as others. I definitely don't see it as a win-at-all-costs move. Hanner's minutes and role on this team has already been limited, I have a hard time believing Crean brought him back sooner simply to try and beat Wisconsin.

I think it is fair to have questions about Tom's handling of this situation but at the same time I think it is going a bit far to start comparing him to Sampson all of a sudden. As best as I can tell, Tommy has run a mostly tight ship his first 5 seasons but all of sudden in Year 6 he has lost control? Eh. It isn't a stretch to speculate this team as a whole might lack maturity both on and off the court in certain ways but I certainly don't feel like I'm cheering for a bunch of punks.

The ethos of the Hoosier Team is at stake here as well as how future infractions will be handled. In this instant case, i think most will agree it is 180 degrees different from how coach Crean initially took charge and cleaned up the program. I don't know of any situations back then that were the OWI/DUI level. In any case, the new precedent has been set.
