Rapid Reaction IU vs UW

Recommended Posts

I felt the need to pump you guys up with a little sunshine before I get started.  Are you guys honestly shocked by losing a game we were up by 10 at half anymore?  This team is as inconsistent as a team can be.  I love them, because they represent us.  Beyond that, I am just disappointed.  I am ready for this season to be over at this point.  I think the players for the most part would feel the same.

As a team, it just depends on which half you want to evaluate to see how you felt about tonight.  The 1st half gave us Will Sheehey going off to start the game, and finish with Noah Vonleh taking over from everywhere.  It also gave us Wisconsin only scoring 19 points, while holding onto the ball.  I didn't think that was possible.  The 2nd half?  Ugh…  I hate that I even have to relive it to put it in context.  On both ends it was as much of a cluster as you could have.  We couldn't find the shooters.  Offense?  Dribble, dribble, dribble, drive, kick out, and repeat.  Either that or cross screen that worked like twice, and we ran it every play seemingly the whole half.  Just complete and utter disappointment for what we just witnessed.  Funny thing, is we scored 29 points in both halves.  Sad part is they went from 19 to 50.  Yep.

Individually, it came down mainly to 4 players.  Outside of those 4 players, the rest of the team scored 2.  How is that even possible?  Yogi had 24 points on 19 shots.  Noah had 18 and 6.  Will and Stan had 7 each.  Beyond that, it gets embarrassing.  Jeremy scored 2.  Back to that sunshine?  We only had 10 turnovers as a team!

Well, I don't think anyone would really be surprised by the outcome of this if we were given the score beforehand.  Doesn't make it any easier.  When Wisconsin chanted NIT, they were being kind.  However, I would like to remind them how many early tournament exits they consistently have had under Bo Ryan.  They weren't wrong on us.  We will end up in the NIT at this rate.  Hey, at least we get more home games!

These loses kill me mentally & emotionally. This team can win and can play, the next question is can and will they play the rest of this season or not?

I admit I am a "sunshine pumper" but every loss hurts the same as if I were a "negative Nancy" just not gonna turn on my team, not going to. Look how long Cubs fans have been doing it.

I probably wouldn't be so pissy if I didn't have to look forward to being a Cubs fan for the summer.  On the bright side, I get to finally see some of these prospects I have been told to be patient about for 3 years.

Lmao, I think its so stupid its funny.  I think a person who can't see anything wrong with the current team is over the top.  I also think someone thinking Crean should be fired for this season after the last 2 is over the top.  It is somewhere in the middle for me.  I think his seat should be warm heading into next season, because things aren't where they need to be.  A lot for next year depends on Noah coming back.  Unfortunately, it comes down to Crean if he does not, because he didn't have the pieces in place to make up for Luke and Noah.  Right or wrong, people will feel he needed more than 2 logical bigs.  Too much to happen before I stress this.  Next year is too far away for that.

I see a 75% chance that Noah leaves, I sure as hell wouldn't wanna play in his system as a big.

To play Devil's Advocate (I think he is gone too, but not cut and dry) Cody did improve his position and went into last year as the presumed #1 pick.  He would have been late lottery after Freshman year.  He ended up being the 4th pick.  Noah will be fringe top 5.  I honestly can't see him going that high, because you still have Exum, Randle, Wiggins, Parker, Smart, and dude from Arizona. This draft is stacked.  Noah's athleticism is his knock for draft.  Most people don't feel he is explosive enough to have high upside. I disagree with that, however my opinion doesn't matter.  I think the thing that may hurt us the most is the Lakers and Celtics will be in the range he could get drafted.  I would go for that reason alone.  They won't stay down long.

Cody might have improved his draft slot (he was drafted too high, should've gone 9-12) but he didn't improve much as a player. The 2012 draft class was much better than the 2013 class as well.

Ughhhh, that second half was ugly.

Reminding myself that if the quantum physics theory about there being an infinite number of universes with all possible futures, then it means there is an infinite amount of universes where I'll be waking up next to Emma Watson makes me feel slightly better.  Remembering that I'm not in any of those universes pisses me off again.

It was, but the same could be said about the next 2 years.

Coach Crean and staff have shown very lttlle as far as brilliant coaching for that matter nothing more than pedestrian-like coaching.

Offensively, I just don't think Crean  has it ( what was my first clue, right).  Supposedly, the other guys on his staff are decent coaches but I sure have not seen anything from the the entire staff.  I think last year our talent covered up those coaching flaws and this year those  flaws can be seen a mile away.

Indiana's sheer athletic advantage allows it to take these first half leads over inferior athletes.

Athleticism combined with little basketball skill only works so long (about 20 minutes apparently) and that's when Crean and his players' faults are displayed.

This team is not very good. The potential is there, but, right now, it's not a very good team. And I don't know when it will be a real good team.

You can't just be happy with Alex Morgan?

Always with the wandering eyes, this one.

I must say the first negative response is lost another game by >10 after being up by ten.  HOWEVER, i looked at the stats of this game because i didnt watch and i think it tells a different story.  The boys played in this game, outscoring Wusconsin by 9 on the floor, putting the ball in the hole while being guarded.  Then i look at the fouls, 6 fouls on Wisconsin?  come on they could get that many just walking out of the locker room.  Get outscored by 20 from the "charity" stripe you are not going to win.  I am not down on that performance last night.  The big 3 came to play and did

Yaaaawwwnnnn. Same ole, same ole. Great athletes, no plan, no adjustments, no mental toughness, no tenacity, quickly going nowhere. Next year we'll change the athletes around a bit, we'll still have no plan, no ability to adjust, no mental toughness and we'll receive tickets for a return trip to nowhere.  Yeah, that'll do it.
