I'm Don, aka AZ Hoosier. I'm Dad to 6 and Papa to 16. Looking forward to retirement in the next few years.

 

  1. Approximate Age and Location: Early 60s, living in the Sonoran Desert in the great southwest US.
  2. Are you a born and raised IU fan? Of course. My Dad raised me right. So are my kids and grandkids.
  3. When you first knew you were an IU fan? I remember watching Lou Watson's teams on television with my Dad.
  4. What sports did you play in High School and College? Baseball and football in HS.
  5. Besides IU, favorite sports teams? Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals, Arizona Diamondbacks, Atlanta Braves and Phoenix Coyotes.
  6. Did you attend IU? Yes sir. Graduated in 1977.
  7. What is your favorite IU Basketball Memory? Being in BTown for the heartbreak of the 1975 NCAA tourney and seeing the team rebound in 1976 with the last undefeated championship team in history.
  8. Who is your favorite basketball player of all time? Big fan of Calbert. Loved watching those '75 and '76 teams - lots of great players there. Also met Steve Downing once in Indy.
  9. What is your favorite IU Football memory? The 1968 Rose Bowl  team.
  10. Who is your favorite IU Football player? Anthony Thompson, Atwaan Randle El, and because he was a Chicago Bear, Adewale Ogunleye.
  11. Best sporting event ever attended? 2015 Super Bowl in Phoenix with my oldest grandson, who is a Patriots fan.
  12. Best IU sporting event ever attended? Celebrating each and every victory during the 2-season long undefeated string, save those inbreds from Lexington in the 1975 tournament.
  13. What brings you to this board? Hoosier athletics. I did the Peegs/Scout thing once, but just didn't care for either of them.

Are you a born and raised IU fan? Nope, learned to love them.


When you first knew you were an IU fan? During my first campus visit my sophomore year of college I fell in love with the school and everything about it. I only applied to IU.


What sports did you play in High School and College? Lacrosse.



Besides IU, favorite sports teams? The St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers. I lived in Wisconsin and STL.


Did you attend IU? Yes, I graduated from Kelley in May 2014.

What is your favorite IU Basketball Memory? The week leading up to the WatShot, the day of, and running down countless stairs from the balcony onto the court after we beat those POS's down south.


Who is your favorite basketball player of all time? Victor Oladipo. I've never watched a player in any sport, at any level, capture the fans like he does.

What is your favorite IU Football memory? I was wearing my red blazer in Columbia, MO at a major Mizzou bar cheering my ass off when Tevin Coleman beat Mizzou last year. Everyone wanted to stab me.


Who is your favorite IU Football player? The Tom Pritchard of IU Football; Ben Chappel.

Best IU Sports game ever attended? IU-UK December 10th, 2011.

What brings you to this board? Spam mail directed me to this site on the promise that I could get laid within 15 minutes. The insider recruiting information kept me here after the initial disappointment faded.

Meaning behind username: Shortening of my name
Age and location: 37/Maryland
Born and raised IU fan?: No
When you first knew you were an IU fan: Moved to Indiana in 4th grade and became an IU fan when Damon Bailey committed, and then also fell in love with the Calbert class!
What sports did you play in High School?: Played basketball in high school and college
Besides IU, favorite sports teams?: Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Eagles
What is your favorite IU basketball memory?: Attending an IU game in junior high and my friends grandfather (member of the '40 title team) taking us into the lockeroom and on the court pregame
Who is your favorite basketball player of all time? Charles Barkley (was a 76ers fan as a kid, jumped ship when I worked for the Celtics out of college)
What is your favorite IU football memory? Don't really have a specific one
Who is your favorite IU football player? Anthony Thomas, Vaughn Dunbar, Randle El
Best IU sports game ever attended? Have only be to a couple, none were big games. I'm hoping my favorite will be a future IU win at UMD that I can attend!
What brings you to this board? Love talking IU basketball and basketball in general, so this is a great place to do it!

  2. Are you a born and raised IU fan?   Since I first came home from the hospital.  First thing I ever watched on TV was IU v Ohio State basketball
  3. When you first knew you were an IU fan?   I don't remember NOT being an IU fan.  But I knew it when I cried at the bus stop the day after the 1976 championship game and I knew I would never watch those guys play at Indiana again.
  4. What sports did you play in High School and College?   Baseball and football for 4 years in HS, basketball for 2 years in HS, football in college
  5. Besides IU, favorite sports teams?   Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Reds, Indiana Pacers
  6. Did you attend IU? Yes 
  7. What is your favorite IU Basketball Memory? Being in BTown for the heartbreak of the 1975 NCAA tourney and seeing the team rebound in 1976 with the last undefeated championship team in history. I kept this one (which was someone else's) because it fits for me, also.
  8. Who is your favorite basketball player of all time?   Jordan.  Best of all time and an absolute killer.  
  9. What is your favorite IU Football memory?   IU 52  Purdue 7   1988.  In Lafayette.
  10. Who is your favorite IU Football player? Anthony Thompson and it's not close.
  11. Best sporting event ever attended? 2007 AFC Championship Game.  Colts 38  Patriots 34.  
  12. What brings you to this board?  You guys have, what a 6 to 8 week training program here?  A real tough one?   Gotta' have SOMEwhere to talk IU sports, right?.  New start with fewer agendas and no (seemingly) mods with God complexes.
  13. Meaning of username?   The old one wore out a long time ago, and it was never the real "me" anyway.
