The Walking Dead Thread 2.0

meh. This show is starting to lose me. No where near as good as TWD imo. The characters are just so damn stupid.

The characters in the original were mostly introduced having lived through this part already. They had knowledge and experience that isn't available yet. We're only 2-3 weeks into the zombie apocalypse at this point. This group has for the most part been very sheltered. They just haven't seen much, and the news is being very well contained.

It's meant to show what transpired before Rick woke up. In a situation like that pretty well everyone, if not everyone, will be stupid because they have no experience to draw from.

You can try to put together a plan, but many times a plan only lasts until you get punched in the mouth so to speak.

I get that... BUT, you can't tell me that Travis isn't infuriating to you.

Now this I agree with. Travis is so incredibly gullible and stupid. He always just has that "deer in a headlights" look. I wish they'd just take him out already but I fear he'll stick around a while lol. Other than that I'm really enjoying this series.

OH MY GOSH YOU GUYS! I just finally got caught up and could look at this thread! This show is waaaaaaaaaaay better than the Walking Dead. And the theme music is the most horrifyingly tense thing I've ever heard. It reminds me of the staticy radio in Silent Hill 2. That theme song is the most stressful thing I have going on.

Why do they keep giving us glimpses of characters who I want to see how it turns out for them? Unfair.

And I already know as many names as I do for the Walking Dead! There are Nick, and Travis, and... that's all I got. But still, I only knew Rick's name for like a season.

I'm thinking that building Travis was looking at was an execution chamber of sorts. You could hear faint pops lining up with the flashes of light; gunshots and muzzle flash.

I thought that was the soldiers following up on the tip and killing whomever was in that house.

Could be, but they're not going to help the people they've taken so they'll need a place to do the dirty work. I figured a make shift execution chamber because of that and his son seeing flashes of light; either one are possible explanations.

Anybody see last night's episode? The black guy at the detention facility is definitely an interesting character! He's definitely smart and thinking ahead as to who will help his chances of surviving.

Also, does anybody find those army strong commercials during the episode a little ironic? Lol I know it's obviously a show vs real life but still.

ummm.....power

they can get the ladies, food, get to kill zombies. sounds like my kind of deal

But they can do that anyway, it's called being the only ones with guns. Why try and maintain power through an obviously shaky faux-military system instead?

And if you're going to pursue naked power, shouldn't you at least be smart enough to govern in a way that won't incite obvious rebellion?

And most importantly, I mean outside of the immediate camp. I know we don't know what is happening in the facilities and stuff yet, but we do know everything is being handled in a profoundly stupid manner unlikely to result in benefits for anyone involved (and it should be obvious to those in power they are not going to gain anything).

I know it's nitpicky this early in the season, but they don't seem fleshed out in a way for me to feel anything toward them. I was given concrete and understandable reasons to hate the Governor immediately and his motivations were well written if a bit stupid. The "army" doesn't feel like that.

The last scene of the episode was ballllller though. I'm glad they didn't do the cliche of them starting to break the door or something right then, but it was a great shot to show how big this really was. They've done a great job through music and filming to communicate the scale and tension that would accompany the beginning of a real life version of zombies.

Please tell me this dude isn't about to let all those zombies loose...

I really enjoy this series. It isn't non-stop action and killing and blood so some (boring) people lose interest. I like how it really builds up a story and takes its time with everything. I enjoy seeing how it all unfolded.

I think the military is getting ready to pull out and nuke the city. That's why they are all bailing in the morning.

I think they are about to nuke it too! They are cutting and running with all the casualties that they are taking. Did anyone happen to notice that the med facility was full of soldiers and no civilans? The only civilian i saw was that lady with her foot cut off and they did her in anyway. I think they are just letting the weak and hurt people just die and then putting the nail in their melon with that air gun (which is really cool) The healthy are just locked away to be used as slaves or experimented on. That's why they are in cages- All of the troublemakers, druggies, etcs.

Did we hear about any cities being nuked though in the Walking Dead? I feel like Henry or Paul would have mentioned something like that back when we first met Coral.

Also, it would be remarkably ineffective. Especially compared to something like firebombing since there is no indication radiation will negatively harm walkers and radiation is the name of the game outside the central blast zone.
